See the solution to the problem of vandalism here, go to the two posts I posted, http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/13915.html?1017508227

It has worked for me for 20 years. It must have been the right choice. I would like to see others in here do the same ;-)

Have you guys ever tried to slash low profile tires like these? It's not an easy deal by any means, it's a friggin b_tch to cut them at all. Or at least that's how my old bridgestones were. Once again I say that cut off hands for vandalism. Unless the victim is a real prick I think losing a hand is a justifiable punishment.

you know what would be cool - to catch some little punk slashing your tire or something - and see it from a distance - see him walkining over to his new mitsubishi with all the cool racing decals - pick up a brick - follow him - and smash his windows right in front of him while he watches and make him cry - see how he likes it - think he's gonna call the cops - go ahead - like the bible says - do onto others as you would have them do onto you

My new P-Zeros came in today. I went ahead and replaced all four at a cost of $900.00 plus $150.00 for a four wheel alignment and $100.00 flat bed charges.

This is very low. There will almost always be someone in life that has more than you. Fine accept it. You may have a huge house and pool with a beautiful wife and kids. Someone else might have the same with a Cabana House. Set yourself a higher standard. Today you may have a tired Mondial 8. Tommorrow you might have one of the finest F-40's around. I ain't knocking the Modial 8 !!!

Around 25 years ago, I saw a Rolls Royce that was severly keyed sitting in a parking lot. I could not understand why someone would do this. I assume that the AMC Pacer does not get keyed too often. I will not mention the Gremlin.

If there is any bright spot, feel fortunate that he did not bash the car or key it. Keep smiling at your terrific car.

Sincerely
Ralph

A ferrari would be the last tires i would choose to slash. Thats messed up that someone has to do that. I could never deface a ferrari, i wouldnt really deface anyones personal car, but especailly a ferrari.

Frank, What happend to your car sucks and I have had similar things happen to me. I try to take a more philosophical view of these situations. Think about the screwed up life that the person who performed this act must lead that enjoyment to them is slicing your tires. Just remember that after you get the tires replaced, you will still be the person Driving a Ferrari whereas the jerk who performed this act is only dreaming of it. For you this is a minor problem in a life filled with gifts, for them, their whole life is probably a problem filled with pain.

A friend of mine told me that, right after he purchased his 360 F1, he had two occasions of "light" vandalism done to his car. Both occurred while the F-car was parked at a restaurant / business establishment. On one occasion, someone witnessed an older woman squeeze super-glue on his rear bumper (what's up with that? -- must have "stole" her parking space ). The other was when a group of marching band students (who were trying to raise money in exchange for stickers, tickets, etc.) decided to paste all of the leftover stickers on his brand new 360 just for a joke! Incredible! Where were the parents / chaperones while this was happening? Needless to say, he gaurds that car like a hawk now.

Wm Hart, it's interesting that you mention the death penalty thing in the south. I was shocked in my criminal law class when we actually watched a video called "Shoot, or Don't Shoot". The video depicted numerous acted out scenarios where the object was for us to determine whether it would be legal to shoot the perpetrator. At the climax of the scene, the victim would draw a gun, the scene would freeze, and the narrator would say "shoot, or don't shoot?", and the class would yell out a response. The one that I remember involved a criminal that seemed to be in the process of stealing a Jeep Wrangler parked outside a house at night, and the owner comes running out of his house with guns blazing. Guess what, the right answer was "shoot."

I'm not suggesting that we should kill each other over property, but whoever does stuff like this should pay.

Really sorry to hear about the damage Frank.

You know, i always had my suspicions about Girl Scouts. Sorry to hear about your mishap. It might be worth checking with the restaurant to see if this is a recurring problem. Also with the local police. Then when they catch these turkeys, you can sue them civilly for damages. that ought to make them think twice about doing that; and would probably deter them more than a misdemeanor count and small fine. Then again, you're in the South, right? don't you guys have the death penalty down there for this kind of thing?

It is incredible how often this happens. At the body shop where I am having my Supra painted, they just got a BRAND NEW 7-Series BMW. The owner has had if for less than a week, and somebody keyed BOTH sides. Complete repaint on a brand new car.

Frank, I'm so sorry to hear about this. This type of action from idiots is getting out of control. Thankfully it was just the tires and not the paint. I would check to see about security cameras as well. I have a client who got his new SL keyed a week ago in a very nice restaurant parking lot in Tulsa. When he talked to the owner of the restaurant he took him back to the office and they did have parking lot security cameras. Turns out it was a restuarant employee(now former). Charges were pressed and this jerk will be prosecuted. Unfortunately my client is going to get rid of the car as he feels it is now tainted. What the hell is wrong with these people who feel it is ok to damage other people's property?

This is an unavoidable part of Ferrari ownership....
I hate it - some people have empty lives and begrudge anyone enjoyment and success - BASTARDS.

My fathers boss used to have a yellow 964 911 Turbo LE. It had the plate TRY 1T . He couldn't leave it ANYWHERE without vandalism....

Who the hell slices tires on a FERRARI in a parking lot without getting noticed? I mean, the car is almost positively getting a lot of attention from people anyway, and for someone to slice those tires in public! Damn, takes major cojones... I sometimes wish something like that would happen to me, just so I could catch the guy doing it. It would almost be worth it. Anyway, like it was said, thank God it was only that, and nothing more serious.

By the way, I have found that the best place to park the Ferrari is right there in between all the cars as close as possible to the entraces. Parking it far away on the lot away from everything so it wont get dinged or scratched will just attract the wrong kind of people.

Sorry to hear that but I have to say good that the paint is okay. That is costly.

Also great that you let your wife drive your car. I think there is nothing better looking than a great looking car with a great looking woman driving and enjoying it.

Frank, that is just plain crap. I'm really sorry to hear that man. Thankfully the jerks did not hurt the car, or your wife for that matter!

Tom has a great idea, you should look into the security cameras.

That is low down and dirty. Sorry to hear about that. At least they didn't mess with the paint. I am just reaching for something to look at the bright side.

Sorry to hear that, Frank. :-(

It's really a crapshoot when you leave a Ferrari in a parking lot for a few hours. The only time I felt comfortable leaving my car in a restaurant parking lot was for our FCA F1 viewing parties. Seems to be safer when you get a group of F-cars together.

Oh Frank - I'm sorry to hear that - it's like those people that don't care if their door goes swinging into your car.......just no respect for others and their property!!!!

Just give me 2 minutes with the jerk that would do something like that - it's cowardly and disgusting!

My wife drove our 348 Spider to a Girl Scout leader dinner last night at Applebees in Cumming, Georgia. When she came out to the car to leave at around 10pm she discovered that some jerk had sliced the tires ! I was up until 2am trying to get the car towed to the dealer. It's a shame that there are people out there that can't stand that somebody has something they want.
