Nika,

This link for AlfaPro was mentioned on a previous thread regarding spare keys:

http://www.alfapro.com/html/keys.html

They offer spare key blanks for classic Italian cars, including Ferrari.

Dennis McCann carries original Ferrari blanks (Neiman and Safe) at

http://www.allferrariparts.com

I bought 2 keys today. They're both ugly and plain, but I paid $5.41 to get it done. They are spares only. I got a Ferrari ignition blank when I bought the car and it cost $26, plus another $12 to get it cut. Today I just went to a locksmith and asked if he could duplicate them. The ignition key says "Peugeot/Renault" on it. Who would've guessed it would fit a Ferrari?

Nika, I just recently got a back up for my car (Not that it will be drivable any time soon :-)). I went to a place on Dufferin St. just South of Yorkdale mall, beside a die-cast model store. It was a locksmith company that had about 10 blanks for the Ferrari. She said they cut them all the time and charged me $7.00 each Canadian. At that price I got 2 back ups. They also had glove box keys.

I got the keys copied for my 308 at the hardware store. (Home Depot, Lowes, whatever) They were just regular blanks. The glove box one was an Ilco. There is a number "F 91 GR" on it. I just looked on the wall until I found one that looked like the one I had. The ignition key might be called Eastlake. It is AA-1. I think I found it in the section for foreign cars. The guy copied them with no problem, it was a couple of bucks (US). I use the copies and save the originals.

I got my blanks from Ferrari of Washington for $15.50 each and had them cut at the local hardware store for $.95 each. Just don't tell them that it's a steel key. Don't take it to a locksmith because they are too smart and won't cut it.

$64 is for a new cut key from Ferrari Italy ONLY. It is cut using your key code at the Factory.

I remember hearing that Fiat spyder keys will work and cost a heck of a lot less than $64

Nika has an advantage when dealing with male locksmiths who won't cut steel keys:-)

I got mine at the locksmith.
There is also a key blank being sold right now on eBay. $ 5.50 is not a bad deal.
Ferrari of Washington is selling the blanks for TR and newer for very reasonable money.

Nika---
You can get a spare, but most locksmiths wont cut it, due to the fact that it is a steel key.It just takes time to find one. If you due lose the key, FNA can get a cut key from F-SpA. That cost around $64-us. Hope this helps

Nika, you should definitely have a back-up key. I had no problem finding an ignition key... but I could never find a locksmith who had the glovebox key (center console).

get a backup, you don't need an authentic one for a back up. a good locksmith should be able to find a suitable blank and make it. you will pay the f-car premium once he sees the orginal key

Bob's post on another thread got me thinking. I only have one key to my 308. If by chance I lose it - how hard would it be to get another? How hard is it to get a spare key? Is it pricey?

Thanks for everyone's know-how and kindness

Nika
