Sorry Guys:

I was thinking of a conventional seat, not a racing shell. My mistake... sorry (it works for Vipers and other cars).

Boy do I feel like a dork.

Tim, there are 3 sets of factory seats for an F40 (2 actually). The stock seats that came in US cars (like ours) euro seats that have convential seat belts and larger bolsters (FNA had ONE euro seat available as of three months ago, the waiting period could be a year or never for the second seat) The 3rd seat is an F40 US seat that they put in 348 Series Speciale models. These are exactly the same as our carbon fiber seats, but they are in tan leather. These were an approximatley an $8,000 (?) option on a 348. I have 2 new ones that I had desk chairs made out of. My desk at the house is made from the front end of a F355, so they look great in front of it. The seats you mention that have the red dots on it are OMP's. My friend has a set in his F40, they would not work for you at all, they are very tall, the back of the seat is within an 1/2 inch of the ceiling, I have to tilt my head when I sit up straight. I have a friend with a F40LM, he is taller than I am and he has different seats, let me contact him and see what he reccomends.. Chris

what are the extra seats you have Chris? are they F40 seats with the bubbles on the top sides? are they red? are you interested in parting with them?

Tim, I have an extra set of F40 seats, the shells are cabon fiber, the "cushion" is at best a 1/2 inch thick from the bottom, nothing to remove! I hope you fit, because I know of no practical way to add headroom. I am only 5' 11" and am concerned about headroom when I put on a helmet, (haven't tried that yet) I will e-mail you soon ablout FC/LA Chris

Hey Brad Nice Viper. I have two, an '01 sapphire GTS with ghost pearl stripes and a '97 red GTS track car. Seat cushion? didnt know I had one...haha, good idea Brad I'll take a look.

Martin I'm think that may be my only choice is to bolt it to the floor.

Chris - your back!! did you have a great time in Mexico or what? probably the only bummer about being there was not having a Ferrari to drive, not that you would want to on those roads. welcome home and hope to talk to you soon.

Try reaching underneath the seat cushion (you might have to remove it if the fit is too tight to get your hand underneath). You should find a webbing on the bottom that resembles a trampoline. If you remove or un-hook it, it should give you about an inch more clearence.

I hope that this helps. Good luck.

Tim, you are as low as you can get! (seat rails that is!) A friend of mine just put new seats in his F40, they are beautiful, but the aftermarket rails a substantially taller than stock.

Why not have new rails made that are lower?

Anyone know of a kit or anyway to lower the seat in an F40? can the adjustable rails be taken out and bolt the seat to the floor? any ideas?

thanks,
