Oh man, I look at every Viper I pass on the road. This guy in my neighborhood has a red RT and it is SOO loud, I hear it everytime he is a stop sign 1500 feet from my house! And it does sound good!  |

What is the firing order of certain ferrari's? Any model will do. Also I was checking out the Viper message board and I was not impressed with it. You had to go to page 1 than page 2 etc while viewing messages..also on a section it asked for appropiate comments only..that made me wonder about a few of the people posting there. Take care Jason |

Erich � yep, that�s what they say, it�s the firing order that�s the cause of the Viper�s bad sound. Hey Chuck, We have talked some in the past. If you are still interested in a Challenge car I may sell mine at the end of the year. I have several interested parties including two FerrariChater's. Drop me an email if you might be interested and i will add you to my list. I will be making a decision on selling the car at the end of the track season in November. The car is a 1995 F355 C (only year that can be made street legal) that has never been raced, only used for track events. By the way, the Viper may not be to everyones liking but it is a seriously fast car and with the right upgrades can be devastating at the track. Don't forget they won the overall race at Daytona (not just their class) a few years back when all the LMP cars dropped out, including the 333 SP. Regards, Jon P. The reason vipers/dodge v10 sounds weird its firing order. Don't recall exactly which cylinders fire, but the sequence is a single cylinder, then two fire at the same time X 4, then the remaining cylinder. So, 1-(2,3)-(4,5)-(6,7)-(8,9)-10. |

I'll get some Ferraris someday. But my first will be a Challenge car. I followed a couple around Road Atlanta last year. What a beautiful car and an awesome sound. Mitchel is right about the Viper exhaust note. Stock they sound horrible. Both of mine have work done and sound pretty good. My race Viper sounds outright badass. |

Some folks shouldn't be so quick to put down the Viper, a car that has won LeMans, Daytona, Sebring, etc., etc. I own one, as well as a Ferrari, and both are enjoyable to drive hard. They're just different. Try not be so tacky! |

The "official" Viper board is viperclub.org and to a lesser degree vipernation.com I�m not familiar with the site listed at the beginning of this thread. At www.viperclub.org you�ll find a professional and intelligent group of posters much like FerrariChat. The Viper was never meant to be "refined." Its roots are from the American Muscle Car era and its lack of refinement is its allure. The original was built for one reason and that was for speed, not to hold somebody�s coffee cup. Dodge hit the nail square on the head of their intended objective. However, to the dismay of many Viper purist the 03 model, which is a completely different car will more readily suit the request of the masses. It is also faster than the current model. As far as craftsmanship goes, I wouldn�t doubt if it doesn�t match any hi-end cars, but with 45K on my 98 RT/10 and 30K on my 97 GTS (primarily a track car) I haven�t had any problems that caused me to overlook the nearly 500HP and shellacking of every car anywhere close in its class � road or drags. Looks of course, are purely subjective and the third reason for my purchase, but you�d have a better chance of finding a virgin at a porn star reunion than you would somebody who didn�t like the Viper�s looks. I hope my defense of the Viper hasn�t too badly offended anyone on this board. Visit www.viperclub.org if you want some good Viper info or just to start some friendly trash talkin� � although it�ll be tough to get anyone over there to trash talk a Ferrari. In fact, ViperDays ( www.ViperDays.com ) would love to have some Ferraris at their racing events.

Its cool, I was merely pointing out the better attributes of the Viper. Hee heeee! Sheeeet Wayne, your Carrera is 10 times a better driving car than a Viper. But you know what? I respect all fast cars, and the Viper is one hell of a fast car. Its just not my cup of tea. I LOVE Carreras, I had a 84 Carrera back in the day. |

I didn't mean to start a thread trashing Vipers. I just thought it was interesting that some of those Dodge boys would admit to any foreign car being superior. I've actually driven a GTS Coupe and found it to be cheap and unrefined compared to my Porsche Carrera that sells for roughly the same price. Absolutely no comparison whatsoever to anything from Maranello. I must say, however, that the Dodge will really get up and go in a modern-day muscle car sort of way. It's not for me, but I can understand the attraction. As for the Viper message board, I went back and read more posts. They're all a bunch of children. They spend as much time discussing video games as they do cars and often refer to what kind of cars their dads drive. |

I have driven several Vipers from various years, and have found the cars to be extremely powerful. With that said, they sound like crap, had an AC knob come off in my hands and a shift knob fall off in my right hand while shifting at 85 mph. They are built like every other Neon on the road. But hey, at least they look better than a Vette. |

BTW, I just logged on to www.dodgevipers.com/messageboard to see what Viper people were saying about Ferraris. To my suprise, there was a recent thread regarding which cars were better than Vipers and several (of the adults, no doubt) listed the F40 and F50. I wonder what would happen if I told them that all Ferraris were better than Vipers? Just kidding! |
