Finally, a bolt-on assessory that will make (let) a Ferrari go faster -- along with a gas guzzler tax Ferrari owners should pay for and get these so troopers can let our cars acheive "design speed." |

My friend has the frame and badge on his twin turbo porsche, and at 160 mph I gueess it gives you a little more piece of mind(?). I'll probably get it because it is also for a good cause. |

The CHP 11-99 foundation is basically a non-profit organization sponsored by the California Highway Patrol that gives financial assistants to the widows of Highway Patrolman that were killed in the line of duty. For a life time donation of $1,500 (tax write off) you receive a license plate frame and badge that states that you are a lifetime member. Besides donating to a worthy cause, there is an implied benefit of the CHP being more lenient if you are pulled over. It has already worked once for myself. The Ferrari dealership turned me on to this when I purchased my car. I'm not sure if other states have something similar. |

I was let go by a Sheriff, of all people, who got me dead in the water on radar on a city street. And I talked to someone who just bought a 360 Modena and was let go doing a 120 on HYW 85. But I certainly don't think it is a sure thing. |

IMHO - it is entirely based on each individual officer/scenario, several of my close friends are in law enforcement officers here in CA (several are CHP) they all say if you are breaking the law they will tag you - basically if they have to get off their BMW, or out of thier cars you'd better beileve they ar going to write you a ticket. That's about the same feeling I have gotten from anyone I have asked that I know. Altho those who have the 11-99 foundation memberships swear by them. Talk about extremes there. -Ben |

I have a question for those who live in California and belong to the CHP 1199 Foundation. Has there ever been a time when you were doing over 100mph and not been let off? I'm just wondering what the percentage is of getting out of a ticket. Thanks |
