Ditto on my XKE, very tricky, you have to keep 'em tight enough so thay don't loosen at speed but not too tight so that you can get them off for tire change..... tough to do with a hammer...takes a real art to the touch. htey look great though and you got to love thsi stuff... no better thing to see in tire changing then when a good strong single solid blow from the hammer spins the spinner right off.. for a super quick tire change...very cool.

This sounds like my 66 Vette with orig knockoff wheels. You had better keep a regular check on the KO's and tighten them with a lead hammer only. They will walk right off of the car. This was the last year for KO's on the Sting Ray. I wonder why?

Hello friends,
All of you guys telling the truth and I was talking about trx tires as the measurements I have on my car are 240vr 415 trx front and rear is 280 tr 415 trx.And I have so difficulties to find those tires in market specially the rear ones.Yes,I agree if some one wants to buy a Testarossa I prefer to buy 512TR as I think this is the best Testarossa build with lovely front and back looking and also, the rims are 18" and the rotors are drilled and the engine is more powerful and I actually have one.plus i have the 1984 Testarossa and planing to buy 1995 512M.so I have all the Testarossa Family. What I like about 1984 Testarossa is the one up side mirror as it looks different from all testarossas. Also, knock off wheels as you only have one bolt to hold the wheel. But as I mentioned before guys that really those bolts loosen on the high speed even if you torque them regularly. So what I do is I use the wrench supplied with car and the lead hammer and hammer it hardly until I know that the bolts is not turning by putting a marker line on the bolt with the rim.As one time when I bought the car in first time after so many km driving the car I noticed that the rear lift wheel bolt is loosen and almost you loose it by your hand!!!! and since that time I started to tighten them regardless the Ferrari PM check!!!.I hope this information is valuable.

Correction: I think you have to change the wheel hub etc. in order to go to different rotors.

OK I was not 100 % sure about the rims but TRX wheels are not in inches either, 225 and 255 are in mm and 16 is in inches, I knew that.
My suggestion would be, especially for a fast car like the TR not to mess around with old tires and change the rotors to Brembo (I think you can still use your old calipers) or change the whole system to AP racing brakes. After that buy yourself some new 16 inch 5 bolt wheels or 17/18 inch aftermarket from Speedline.

In that respect:

Stay away from old TR's with TRX rims/ tires. The car is too fast and it is hard to limit yourself on the freeway.

The TR SPC shows both metric version (210 TR 415 and 240 TR 415) and inch version (8Jx16 and 10Jx16) wheels are possible on the single-lug TRs -- Hassam is pointing out the difficulty in finding proper tires for the 415 wheels.

Depends on what measurement you are talking about. Tires have an odd combo of both metric and english measurements. As example, 255 is the tread width (sidewall to sidewall) in millimeters, the 50 is the aspect ratio (what percent the sidewall height is to the tire width -- this tire has a sidewall height that is half its witdth, higher numbers are taller sidewalls), but that last number is 16 inches wheel diameter. I have the wierdo 390 mm wheels, about 14 1/2 inches. Also a fun size to find.

I am not sure if the TR was produced with different type of knock-off wheels but mine has 225/50-16 front and 255/50-16 rear tires on them(I can't find any different size in the manuals either) and you can buy plenty of different brands at any tire store. ALL tires are in mm anyway, haven't seen any tire yet which is in inches, the only ones different where the Michelin TRX (like on my Mondial) which are a pain to get or older 14 inch tires for the 308 etc.
In regards to the bolts, wrong again Hussam, or you have your brake rotors put on wrong, as the thread is left hand on one side and right hand on the other side of the car to avoid just that. The factory tool is not very handy though but with a proper extension it works just fine. Never take them off / put them on by pushing the tool down, you have to lift it up in order to have it sit right. That way you have your legs to help you with all the work and not only your arms (lesson in physics).

HI,
I own Testarossa 1984 and the only problem you are going to face is getting the tires. As the they are in MM not in inches right!!!!
As the rear tires you cant get then any more from Michlen as they stopped produce them and you have to buy them after market and they are produced old like 3 years old.And you have to torque the bolts from time to time or you will see the wheel passing you on the high way!!!:):):).
bye bye.

I saw a beautiful light blue/greyish (don't know color name) with creme interior 1988 with knock-off wheels, low mileage, priced well.

My only concern are the wheels, Any major problems with this type of wheels?

Thanks,

Caribe.
