What about speed ratings with a Barchetta top vs. a true fold-down top? I read recently in Forza Magazine that the 550 Barchetta top is recommended for use 70 MPH and UNDER. I was surprised that number wasn't higher. Also, I'm a huge fan of the Mondial Cabriolet, but I have never actually asked this before -- does anyone know the recommended top speed for the Mondial with the top up? |

it is my understanding that a true convertible version of the front engined v12 will be made with the replacement for the 550/575. (The 575 was sort of "interim"). Lou B is correct that without a usable top, driving the barchetta is much more of a pain. But that hasn't stopped me. |

IMO Barchettas don't make any sense at all if you really want to drive one rather than show and worship it. I would buy a true 575 Spider with a real folding top in a heart beat. |

Highly unlikely -- from reliable sources. |

As much as I am enthrawled with the 550 Barchetta, what are the prospects of a 575 Barchetta? Is there any scuttlebut on the street to Ferrari closing out the 575M with a bang that could rival what the 550 Barchetta did for the 550 Maranello? I did a Yahoo search on "575 Barchetta" and got one hit from buysell.com on new cars for 2002. I think they typo'ed the car's name since they refer to it in their editorial as the 550. Mike |
