I attended one auction as a bidder and my 5 year old son almost bid 6 mio dollars on that Ferrari with my bidder sign - I am not joking! |

I was with the fellow whose backside I gloriously captured here and will talk with him about getting a copy of the photo he was taking of the interior while I was trying to capture the exterior.

Harlan, the first one from the bottom is a 250 GT LWB Berlinetta (nicknamed the "Tour de France" or "TdF"), the second car is a 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO, and the third car (red w/white stripe) appears to me to be a 500 TRC. |

Can someone tell me what those first three cars are? The other three I now know (thanks Wayne). I'm trying to start learning the older cars, I'm only good from about 79 up currently. |

Nick, thanks for the pics. I just finished downloading the pics you sent me (huge files) but I see that you've already posted them here. The green and black car is a 212 Export Spyder by Vignale s/n 0090E and is the feature car in Cavallino #130 (Aug/Sep '02). I'm doing a book for VelocePress that features several coach built Ferraris, including the yellow and black car (212 Inter s/n 0191EL). That particular car was bodied by Ghia and appeared at the 1952 Paris Salon before being delivered to Juan Domingo Peron, the Argentinian dictator. I cannot find any pics of the interior of the car. Did you or anyone else get some? By the way, here is some info on that Hod Rod from the Concorso program:

I overheard the owner telling someone that 14 ostriches died for this interior. They will be remembered fondly for years to come. |

Wayne, believe it or not I was trying to post a photo of that yellow and black F-car, also there was a BITCHEN green & black 2 tone (small car) barchetta Ferrari that I thought stole the show! It was soooo cool. Never saw one before. My wife and I had a blast the whole weekend. Saw that LM Testarossa sell for 5.9 Million at the RM auction (thanks to my friend at DuPont Registry who gave us auction passes for Friday AND Saturday nights!) Went to the Historic races on Saturday. Saturday eve. back to the auction and was introduced to Thomas DuPont (super cool guy, & the owner of the magazine) Then, Sunday went to Pebble Beach (did anybody see a silver double-bubble Abarth Zagato at Pebble Beach? My Company did the paint and bodywork on it). Hung out with my DuPont Registry friend at Pebble Beach (and Tom Dupont). They gave us thier Media passes for the Sunday Monterey Historic races (left Pebble early) which gave us free-range of anywhere we wanted to go at the races, including free food (yeah!) Had an awesome time, and got to meet some super cool people. And, might get to restore Mr. Duponts 60's Porsche cab. that he has owned since 1968. As soon as I figure out how to post photos, I will post a bunch of nice photos, including a totally custom Ferrari-based 30's style hotrod! by the Maguires booth at the Councourse Italiano...way sweet! So many cars, too little time. |

Nick, I just re-size them in photoshop quickly by looking at them and judging their size. You can e-mail me ALL of your Ferrari picks from PBeach that you want to post and I will resize and post for you if you like. By the way, was the yellow/black 212 there? |

Wayne, dont know why I have troubles with photos sometime. I just bought a new dig. camera. It takes 3 megpixle photos which I guess is way too big for this web sight. Who has an easy way to knock the photos down to an acceptable size???? I always go to Adobe Photoshop and re-size it there, but have to keep jackin' around with it till the size fits this sight. Anybody have any helpful hints?? |

Nick, what's up with that? Hey, was there a funny looking old yellow and black two-tone Ferrari there (212 Inter 0191EL)? I heard a rumor that it was. If so, does anyone have pics? Especially of the interior? Please e-mail them to me! Thanks! |

Great. One of only three '64 GTO's in the world and some idiot told me there wouldn't be any Ferraris there! Should've known better. About 20 total?! Any more pics? |

At the d'Elegance there was a nice display of Ferrari GT and Comp. cars from the 50's & 60's. About 20 total. I liked this Berlinetta.

To be more specific, I was told there would be new F-cars and Masers on display, but that no vintage F-cars would be competing on the green. Was that true? |

Allen, I left Saturday night and didn't attend Pebble Beach this year. I was told by one of the organizers that there would be no F-cars there this year. Couldn't believe it. Was I being b.s.'ed? |

Oh yeah, it wasn't at the Pebble Beach auction (Christie's) it was at the Monterey Sports Car Auction (RM). I think you had a couple too many free ones at the bidder's bar. Funny how they get you all tanked up when you're bidding! |

Sorry to break it to you, Jack, but that old Ferrari you bought for $5.9 million was PLUS 10% buyers premium. But hey, what's another $590,000 anyway? |

I did pretty well. Hit the Pebble Beach auction and picked up an old Ferrari LeMans racer for just under $6 million. Figured it was a bargain compared to that $3M baseball a couple years ago! I think someone named Phil Hill used to plunk around in it...? |

I was down there Friday and it was my first time seeing so many Italian cars, overwhelming. I didn't know that the McLaren has a storage compartment outside the rear fender. The 16 cylinder 1001HP Bugatti was interesting as it kinda resembled the Audi/VW cars. There were so many that when you left the show seeing them on the streets you really don't look at them as you would when you rarely see them. |

I got back home at 3AM this morning. Had a blast. Jscott, saw your car but you were nowhere to be found. I had a meeting with the publishers from VelocePress on Saturday and my book is a go. It should be out before next year's Concorso so all of you can buy it! =) |
