HI When I first Got My Mondial Cab I parked it in front of a resturant, In clear view of my table, on the deck. Next morning I noticed black stuff on the seat of my pants, so went out to the car and saw a cigarette butt in the seam of my drivers seat that had burned a 1 inch long black mark. I went crazy, went back to the restaurant the next night to talk to the parking lot gaurd. As I walked up to talk to him he pulled out a cigarete and lit it. I said nothing and went home because I thought he flipped the cigarette in the car and I wanted to punch him out. Not a good idea So when you get lemons make lemonade Did the leatherique thing after lots of research and my interior looks like new. The black burn mark was oiled and dyed a little more then the rest of the job and looks fine. There is still a little mark on the seat and when I notice it once in a while. I think to myself "That jealous scumbag, or jerk, or whoever that person was is still jerk and I am the one with the car of my dreams" I love my car, and I hate being taken advantage of. Maybe Its time you detail the car and get a good coat of wax on your bonnet. The workout will make you feel better and burn off a little steam too. I took me two mounths to redye my interior (4 seats and tons of leather) and I was relived and very satisfied when finished. A friend of mine says Ferrari's will always draw fleas Good luck detailing |

Allen, Sorry to hear about your car. I would be pissed too. When I drive my 348 to a resturant, I always find a table next to a window so I can see who gets close to my car. This pays off. One time while at a resturant I noticed a young Asian male lean against my 348 while his girlfriend took a picture of him. I was on him within 15 seconds offering to whip his ass. Luckly, he did not leave any mark on my black 348. Park where you can keep an eye on the car. Dan |

Allen: You don't know if some idiot droped that stuff on the car when looking at it, and was too embarassed to remove it, or some snot did it on purpose. The issue is: Did he hurt your car? If so something to worry about. If he didn't hurt your car, you just cleaned it off, no reason to get upset over it. Most people are idiots, and a lot of what appears to be malicious is really stupidity. Unless I am sure that they did it on purpose, I don't get crazy around it. If they did it on purpose, I get even if I can and I don't use the CHP. Art |

A friend of mine came out of work one day to find that some incoherent idiot had "parked" their car in front of his by ramming their front bumper onto his front bumper so hard that the bumpers overran each other and locked into place! My friend had to jump up and down on his bumper and pull and tug until he was able to get the bumpers unlocked so he could drive away. My friend assumed that the driver of the offending car was having trouble knowing the exact location of his hood and bumper while parking. So my friend made it easier for him to locate the hood of his vehicle. My friend took out his key and gouged a giant 3 foot "X" right in the middle of the guy's hood. He probably had no problem sighting down his hood after that. |

Yep, George. I know of Fred "Driving School" Kinder. He doesn't post too much anymore. As far as threads getting deleted over there, it does seem to be an occasional problem. Appologies to the board for not taking this offline - I'm goofing off at work and don't want to use email  |

Allen, me? Comfortable with the idea? Perish the thought, but at the same time maybe we should examine the degree of the damage, if it warrants loosing any sweat of the family jewels. In your case, no harm done, just your ego got bruised.....err....let me put myself in your shoes...if someone dumped Ketchup on my Ferrari, or Vette, I would not loose any sweat of my meantioned body parts, but rather shake my head and think what a missguided soul this person must be....now, the things that would really grind my crank, are the mentioned milkshake and the 7-11 Slurpee episodes. We all handle stress and adversity in our own way, but I have to tell ya, some things are just not worth worrying about. When I'm in your neck of the woods, I'll look you up, and the suds will be on me. Cheers

To bad you couldn't identify the scum who did it. I remember on the first weekend after I bought my then new 1991 Corvette Convertable I was cruising down a local street when a group of low-lifes threw several eggs at my car from a passing pick-up truck. I called 911 on my cell phone and followed them and until I could give the tag number to the 911 operator. |

George, you are of course right. It was "just ketchup" and did wash off, but the idea of a total stranger coming along and maliciously vandalizing private property just because they want to is a foreign concept for me. Maybe you are more comfortable with that idea? And thank-you, I do have a life. A comfortable one even - Best wishes, Allen |

about the penny... maybe my dog just ate the ketchup with the penny in it. ;) I've heard this before, but have never tried it. I know it removes oxidation on metals, so it makes sense that if you soak it long enough, it will dissolve. After a few days it will probably just be really shinny. |

On another car board a guy told a story about parking his isuzu Vehicross with the windows cracked, because it was a very hot day. Came out after a full day of work to find that someone had squeezed a slurpie through the opening, the red die stained the grey leather interior and he said after about a month he could still smell that sweet smell when it gets hot. I always use a car cover it is a pain in the ass to put on, but if the car is going to sit even for just a little while it is worth it. I have heard of people flipping cigarettes in cars and all kinds of stuff. George is a little off base, whether you revere the car or not unprovoked vandalism of anykind SUCKS! and a Rant is good to get it off your chest. To imply that someone is putting their car above or even on Par with God or Christ, because they are upset that someone vandalized it is rediculous. Ketchup may not be a big deal, because it does wash off, but it is a little different that an elderly couple accidently bumping your car. |

Had a brand new Jeep Wrangler w/top off(not expensive I know, but still my new car) and some schmoe threw a chocolate malt in it on the inside of the windshield. Of course it all ran down the air vents behind the dash. This must be payback for all the stunts I did when I was young...... |

Hey Chuck B.....do you ever get on the Viper discussion board? If you do, look up a guy by the name of Fred Kinder, we hung around together in Erie, Pa. way back when, when Fred had a 69 Vette. I found Fred by accident on the Viper Board, but everytime I posted something, my posts disappeared....maybe the moderators thought a corvette guy was there to do some trolling. Hehehehe |

I talked to the elderly couple, they denied hitting the car, and there was no note saying "me so sorry, me hit you car." Ah well...used a come-a-long to pull the bumper back out, had to replace the hood cylinder, as that got jammed, and while trying to open the hood, the paint around the front edge of the hood and surround got chipped. Sure, everyone has a right to gripe, free world, but to go ballistic over something that a bucket of soap and water will cure. Heck, if washing the car after that is so distasteful, tell the butler to go wash it. |

George, some things are accidents and some things are malicious. It is reasonable for Allen or any of us to get ticked over something like this. Were minding our own business and somebody comes along and dumps on us for what? They don't even know the person they're trashing! It shows a lack of respect for other peoples property, be it a Ferrari, Viper or Yugo. My Chevy S10 got hit. I wasnt pissed. It was an accident. But Id be pissed if somebody trashed it on purpose although obviously not as much as my Viper.

Allen, Really sorry about this. Strange thing is you feel like an idiot when discovering what other people have done to your car. Know the feeling since some dumbass stole the two emblems on the front and motor hood while the car stood in my appartments garage. Sad thing was he used a screwdriver and scratched both hoods. The damage was about 1300 Euro for replacing the emblems and repainting the motor hood (Front hood could be polished!). Result: I had to pay 500 Euros since my insurance does not cover up all the damage. I immediatly searched for a single garage which costs me 60 Euros per month. Just great!!! But hey, we have got the pleasure and honour to drive a Ferrari everytime we want. Never mind the bollocks anyway thats what they want... Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

One time there was this no-brained who squirted his wiper fluid on the freeway while in front of me and thought it was funny, he has problems for not thinking. I remembered his license plate and vehicle, called my buddy who is CHP, got his address, paybacks a . I can't say what I did but I can say this person is really feeling it. I can't stand ignorant people and they will pay if they mess with me. Rule is if you don't know who you're messing with then don't, your life could end real fast in the real world. George, How would you have felt if the car that hit your ferrari took off without leaving a note. Its "just a car" and "life will still go on". I think the point here is a total stranger decides to do something to Allen's car for no reason. Maybe this Sh_t Head was trying to impress his friends at Allens expense, who knows. So I think Allen has a right to be upset over this. Just my opinion. |

Nope, not at all. I got my Ferrari hit in my parking space, not hard but hard enough to push the bumper in, to missalign the hood so it can't be opened, and when it can be opened, it's a bear to close. Who did it? The elderly couple parked in the underground garage directly in front of me. Did I rant and rave? Hell no, I will fix it and move on. It's not worth going ballistic and loosing 15 years off my life. I don't hold the car in reverence, God and Christ I do, but not a car. |

Here is a even better one. Buy your lunch to go, drive home, and eat it in your house. If your are not careful while eating in your Ferrari, it would turn into a disaster. Imagine squirting the ketchup inside your Ferrari, especially when you have light-color interior. |

Sorry to hear about the ketchup on your Ferrari, Allen. At least, it's something you can wash off. In Hong Kong, this doesn't seem to be too big of a problem, because there so many expensive cars around. You bump into more Mercedes and Bimmers than cabs around here. There are also hundreds of Ferraris in this city, 600+ I think, plus assorted rare exotics, such as the Pagani Zonda and CLK GTR. I suppose next time you stop by a fast food place in your Ferrari, park it next to a window seat and eat your lunch there so it's not out of your sight. |

James, I couldn't agree with you more. Caneing definetly fits the punishment. One time my son at 8 yrs old set the house on fire and wouldn't tell me where the origin of the fire was because the whole house was filled with smoke and I couldn't tell. Talk about caneing, He danced around for hours. Today he says that he deserved it and my boy and I are the best of buddies. They want and need to be disciplined. |

The high school kid was Micheal Fay. The country, Singapore where I live. Micheal and his gang of friends systematically vandalised cars, road signs, etc. Considering that a F-car, 550 Maranello costs about USD600,000 a piece here because of taxes. They really pissed off the victims and the Police. It lasted several months, where the teens conducted 'special forces' type raids in car parks, leaving taunting notes to challenge their capture. They were caught and he was caned. The caning was a serious affair carried out in the prison, and supervised by a doctor. His parents knew what he was up to, he had 'trophies' he brought home, road signs, hood ornaments etc. but chose not to do anything until he was caught and arrested. It causes a lot of unhappiness to the governments of both countries. A boy's prank? Hardly. The parents should have taken more responsibility. |

The worst thing that happen to my car was I loaned it to a friend and someone threw an egg and hit the car. The impact took some paint off the rear lid where the spoiler would be. Another time I found an apple core in my car. It must have been thrown in when the guy was walking by it. I am sure that most of these acts of vandalism are being done by high school kids. Anyone remember the story of an American student in some foreign Asian country who was caught vandalising a car and his punishment was CANING (beating with a bamboo rod I think). Now that is justice. What are your feelings about that type of punishment? Pros and Cons? |

Years ago, I used to have a 300ZX T-top. Drove it on a date with the top panels off. Everything was going fine until we got to a stoplight and a guy in a truck next to us spit his gum plus a little extra into my car. The gum landed in my date's lap. Kinda ruined our day. |

In my rearview mirrors, I've caught people spit in my direction or give me the finger. Someone did leave a couple of scratches (probably from a ring) along the tail of my car during a recent FCA event. Collected a few on the front hood last year from a woman posing for a picture. I never stop my 360 at fast food restaurants as a rule. You're lucky it's only ketchup. |

That pissed me off a lot since I was driving the car to dry it right after washing it. Some people are simply stupid. I'm glad in your case it was just ketchup. ACW

Auto disrespect is one of the things that pisses me off as much as anything. Its perpetuated in tv and movies like FnF when they stereotype the owners of exotic sports cars out to be snobs. Ive been broke and its been my experience that the less fortunate are bigger snobs than the people they dis. Ironic aint it. Fear not, what goes around comes around.

OK, I am going to vent so bare with me. I'm on my way home from Monterey this afternoon and I stop at a fast food place for lunch. I come out from the place after eating and some ignorant pile of moldy cow dung has squirted what appears to be ketchup all over the hood of my Ferrari. What kind of sh*t is this? Whoever did this didn't know me, couldn't have been upset with me for anything, the only thing this could be is a case of misguided jealousy. I have read of a couple of other cases of F-car vandalism in FChat and it leads me to wonder how often this type of thing occurs. This is the first time this has happened to me, however, I have only had my car since February '02. How many of you long time owners have had your cars abused by the great unwashed? Thanks for the chance to vent. |
