You can not go wrong with Bret at Skelton Ferrari in Berkeley. He is an excellent mechanic not a parts replacer. |

I normally take my car to Mark Spencer at Velocespeed in Campbell, and he is a great guy and knows F-cars as he used to work at FOLG for many years before he established his own business. I also find Skelton Ferrari to be a very honest and professional shop in Berkely, and they are definitely least expensive in terms of labor charge. |

Might try Prestige Autohaus in Walnut Creek for another opinion. I've had good luck with them. Prestige Autohaus 925-937-5400 |

I would also recommend checking out Patrick Otis and Company in Berkeley. 1st class facility and expertise. Skelton Ferrari is also a excellent independant. |

I recommend Mark at Veloce SpeedDesign as well. I have tried, Tony at Modena, Ferrari of Los Gatos, I ended up with Mark. (He is great on price and timing - very accomodating) Mark actually checks for the source of the problems than just replacing parts and parts till it's fixed like some dealerships. |

Thanks for all the input. Warren, I don't plan on having any major service performed by an independant shop, at least not while the car is under waranty. I would like to use an independant shop for any oil change / break pad change, and also as a way to have a second opinion on some of the suggestions the dealer makes. Thanks ACW

Give Mark of Veloce Speed Design a call/visit. He is few blocks away from FoLG shop. Also on the east bay, try Skelton Ferrari (Emeryville). They are both great guys. -n |

Do you think going to an independent will lower the resale value of your f-? Especially if you go for the 15K or the 30K?

There are several good independant shops. Waterfront in SF is a good one. Also, I heard that Ferrari of SF has tow service, you might want to give them a call. Art |

Don't know how far away this is, but you can try Monza Motors 880 Post St., San Francisco, CA 94109. (415) 771-4436. Not being a Ferrari owner, I have no experience with them and am not recommending them. I just know of them and that they are in the Bay area. I hope that helps. |

I would love to find a serious and honnest, independant Ferrari service shop. I would like to avoid my dealer (FOLG) as much as possible, following a rather poor experience. I know there is Ferrari of San Francisco, but it is pretty far from the south bay. Thanks for any information you can share. ACW |
