warren - the manual does stink, huh? there is a bad typo in my MY99 manual re: the gauges (check the archives).

the security system has THREE modes - one more than any other car i've ever owned. the first mode is the traditional "LOCKED". the third mode is the traditional "UNLOCKED". the second middle mode happens when the car is standing and stopped. after some period of time it will engage some or most of the security features, assuming that you didn't lock it but you just meant to. in order to start her up you need to hit the remote button - to put it into mode 3, unlocked, again. (that numbering system is mine, not FSpA's, fyi).

that said, while i've had my car go into the second state often (very often), i've never had it actually lock the doors during that process. this would in fact be an undesirable behavior (IMO) because the keys might still be in the car!

the manual is actually pretty good on explaining all the buttons and whatnot.

Anyone want to label what all these buttons and switches do on a 355? It will definitely be clearer than the F- manual.

Also, the strangest thing happened yesterday. I had the front hood open and I was cleaning my car and all of a sudden the doors locked. Does the 355 have an automatic lock feature when the hood is open? The car made several beep noises I guess to indicate the hood was still open. Also are there any special features on the remote like a benz ie hold the button down and the windows come down, panic button etc?

Side note: Whenever I park my car in a lot and come back there are always hand prints all over it, hate that. I believe someone once posted a story where a woman posed for a picture on the hood of their 360? Did you catch her in action? What did you do?Interior Center Console of 355
