Good call, Robert The small piece in the Enzo article of CAR magazine says the following. "Britain will get between 20 and 30 cars, and although several have undoubtably got names against them, not all the allocations have been sold. Ferrari is giving priority to collectors and existing owners, but it will sell to first- time Ferrari buyers;when you're trying to extract 500,000 pounds from someone, you don't want to be too fussy about who they are." With that said you might be able to get an Enzo with the only problems being that you would need to retro fit it for US EPA and DOT. And Ferrari would have to believe that you are a British resident since they might get alittle upset if you were a US resident and used this loophole to get one. But you never know, Luca might make an exception. |

The UK magazine, CAR reviews the Enzo this month. The article says anyone can order an Enzo, and they aren't sold out. Its usually a very accurate mag, but no idea if its correct in this case. |

This guy is full of ,if he is allocated to get one, he can't sell it anyway. I believe Ferrari has rules against that regardless of how much money you have. Some auto manufacturers have those rules. |

Must be an employee of Exotic Cars Wholesale in Ft. Lauderdale posting this scam, cause that is exactly what they ask for. |

Are you sure you had to be invited to buy an Enzo? My dealer told me they just submitted some names to FNA based on customer requests. (mine wasn't on it) |

It seems to me that someone who has the clout to be on these exclusive lists in the first place would have better things to do with their time. |

Wow - this is an amazingly legal 100% scam! My understanding is that the Enzo is already sold out. Furthermore, at no point could you have walked into your dealer and have asked to be put on the list. Ferrari invited you to purchase it or you weren't getting one. So this guy either IS GETTING ONE or he IS NOT. The text of his post is great though. He reserves the right to refund the money - and note the specific wording: "I reserve the right to only refund any funds payable to me by bidder should my allotment is cancelled or not given to me by Ferrari.". So he clearly is NOT getting an Enzo. However, he clearly states he'll refund the money if he doesn't get one. But 'ONLY' funds paid by the bidder. So if he gets this up to $20K, let's say; the moron-du-jour wires him the money in Singapore; and then we wait until the end of the Enzo production and distribution (end of 2004?) this guy gets (at a minimum) 2.3 years of interest on the $20K. $2,500 or more for zero work? Not a bad scam if you're patient! I say "at a minimum" because this assumes you can legally force him to give you back your $20K from Singapore. if you "sold" allocations like this (Enzo, Carrera GT, Saleen S7, TVR, etc. etc.) you could easily pull an extra $10K per year if you were professional about it. virtually zero time or money investment. what schmucks. doody. |

Hehe, I hope nobody falls for this: Check his auction history -- in June he buys a small scale F-model. Sometime between June and August he thinks of the scam. In August he buys a prepaid world-wide SIM card (tons of interesting things you can do with world-wide roaming, like untraceable calls and so on :-)... And now the Enzo ad for who's dumb enough to fall for it :-)... /Dan |
