I have learned a lesson about upgrading brakes, when you replace rotors and calipers, REPLACE the master cylinder!

Brembo is sending me a dual master cylinder set-up for my F40. I should have done this to start with and I would have saved a lot of agony!(and money!)

I really reccomend Brembo, they have been excellent to work with!

Hello Chris,

I am really glad to hear that the master cylinder came in on Wednesday, and you were finally able to run some good laps.
I want to relay a big thanks to you for putting the event together. We were very glad to have the opportunity to be involved. We are giving a great deal of effort to developing higher performance braking systems for modern Ferrari's out of our California office. This is just the opportunity we needed to showcase that.
I am only sorry that Mark and I could not stay through Wednesday. I had to drive a Saleen vehicle for some testing. So thanks again to you and Roland and Tim, as well as Jackie and Peter from Forza.

Well I finally made it back home!

Thanks Tim and Roland!

Yes, thanks to a very good friend we got a master cylinder on Wednesday (he took it off his F40). The brakes are excellent! 5 hard stops from 135mph and 0% fade. VERY HAPPY! Thanks Brembo!

Yes, this will be the feature article in Forza, before the end of the year.

It took a while but I believe the F40 is very happy right now, but we have one more change, I bought F40LM Turbo's in Monterey, so we will install those next week and then back to the dyno!

Thank you to everyone that came by, it was a great time, Peter Brock is very nice, and a good friend, Jackie Jouret (Editor of FORZA) is a class act and loves to drive fast!!

Hey Tim thanks again for lending me your helmet. I am sorry about all of the dirt that I got in it. But you have to admit we did get a good laugh out of it, when I took it off and looked like a racoon from all the dirt around my eyes. It was such a fun event, and a real pleasure to have put some faces to the chat names.

Does anyone know how things went for Chris on the second day?

What a trip. I left the track tuesday at 7:pm and got home at 8:am, long drive and I was beat.

but it was all worth it. Thanks to Chris for the invite and thanks for the WAY cool shirt.

the F40 ran awesome and the 360 Challenge ran very very well too. the stiffer springs in front and softer in rear helped a ton in telling what the car was going to do. it gave it a little understeer and the tail would just start to slip at the edge instead of everything exploding, what a difference.

I kept the car at very nominal speeds as I didnt want to end up with another repair bill and was making sure everything worked OK.

it was great getting to meet some of the folks here at Fchat. gave as many rides as I could and hope everyone enjoyed them.

thanks again to Chris for his hospitality.

Speaking of Roland: ironically, he was my instructor at the FCA National Meet track event/DE in May 2001 at Motorsport Ranch in Ft. Worth, TX. This was my 1st time on track with my 550, and of course he drove it first. WHAT--AN--AMAZING--DRIVER!!! And a nice & funny guy.

Rowland's F40 is an original LM. It has full ground effects. I heard he saved it from the scrap yard.

The other impressive thing was that Tim's 360 challenge has the F1 shifter and a metal clutch. It has gone through two race seasons and still doesn't need to be replaced!

Great pictures Dennis! I especially liked the shots of the 3 cars lined up. I must spend too much time on this board, because I knew instantly which car belonged to which driver.

A huge thanks to everyone involved, especially Chris for the opportunity to help and his generous hospitality. It was great to see everyone face to face. I also had a great time taking my car around the track-- many thanks again.

I have started to develop a picture and recap webpage of this event. I have a few huge pictures at: http://www.wheelkinetics.com/ferrari
with one reasonable size picture at:

If anyone has pictures of the event, please email them to me!

Funny about the dirt. I went off turn 1 at Road Atlanta in a 911 once, spun in the red clay and the dust cloud was huge. No amount of cleaning could remove it all. Tiny whisps of red dust were still coming out of the AC vents every time you turned it on 2 years later!

Sounds like yall are having a blast :-)

Should add, in addition to a big thanks to Chris for the kind invite and warm hospitality, that one of America's motorsports treasures was in attendance at the event. Peter Brock, designer of the Cobra Daytona Coupe (was Carroll Shelby's first employee) and the Bill Mitchell Stingray (among others) as well as the campaigner of a stable of red/white/blue Datsun B210's (under his own BRE banner) was at the track snapping photos and planning a word or two on behalf of Forza. Was a true pleasure to meet Pete and listen to some pretty cool tales of cars and stuff.

Oh, and the Viper was only fast in a straight line. As anybody worth their keyboard and magazine collection knows, they don't go around corners. (insert internet smiley face here).

Hope day two went better mechanically for Chris.

Yesterday I got back home from the Ferrari Chat gathering at Buttonwillow. The event was great and we had a good turn out. A huge thanks to Chris for inviting us out.

About halfway throught the get together I here that Forza Mag was there doing a piece on it. I asked Chris and he confirmed it. If I'm not mistaken I even think it will make the cover.

Poor Chris had a master cylinder break on his F40, and no one in the United States had a replacement part in stock. That just bites ass!

There were three F40's, a 550, 360 challenge, and a 308 at the event, along with some other cars. I didn't take my 348 cause it is having ECU problems. Paul the 550 owner also brought his Viper GTS ACR, and was kind enough to give me a ride in it. That car was unreal. Massive amounts of torque and the car was hooked up to the track so well on the Hoosers. I was very impressed with the car and Paul's skills behind the wheel. In the hands of the Pro Driver at the event the 308 passed a Mercedes AMG E55 on the back part of the track.

After watching all the guys having fun I finally couldn't take it any longer so I took my little Integra out on the track and went for a ride around the track. I was having fun and pushed my car just a bit too far resulting in a ride through the dirt. I slid of the track on a right hander going over a hill on the back part of the course. I was ok, but with all the dirt that was in my car you could have planted corn.

The F40's sounded awsome going full blast down the straight in front of the pits. I asked Rowland what the output of his LM was, and he said at full boost it was about 850hp! How ever he couldn't get the car to run right because of some internal ECU problems. Tim's stock F40 was the only car of the three that was running right.

I hand a blast at the even, and I'm anxious to see what the Forza article has to say. Thanks again Chris.
