Eric, that's the guy. Thanks for the info. I'm not interested in the road stuff, just the race stuff. The calipers that I had in mind are p.n's
x94.44.21/24 or x93.41.21/24 ( got these P.n's from the Truechoice catalog). When you say road legal, what does that mean? I've always understood that road calipers required dust seals. I don't want these, just give me the Ti pistons. What size are the rotors in the F40 pictures? What would it take to get a deal? I'm sure that you guys get the employee discount and it would be great if you could hook a brother up!

Hi John,
You probably talked with Mark Valskis, the chief engineer at BNA.
I dont know if you were speaking of road or race type calipers. I dont know what is available in a race caliper, but there is a new road legal 8 piston we are starting to design for. I know Mark can get it done for you. Just get your pen warm to make a deposit check. Give him a call.

Eric, that is a really cool set-up but where is my F40 8 piston caliper set-up? I don't recall the guys name that I dealt with, but he was supposed to get back to be when he got the calipers. Thanks!

Is that heat paint on there? Where can that stuff be bought? I could use that on my race car.

I will come to defend Chris with a couple of shots of his brakes. I am looking forward to his pedal box being finished so he can really get the maximum effectiveness from this system. By the way, until someone else steps up, chris is the only one in the world with this unique brake package.

Matt,

I am not sure how you would describe what I am doing!

I love my F40, but they have some short comings, mainly brakes!

I like to rent a track 3 or 4 times a year and stretch the F40's legs, something that is not practical on the street.

My modifications are there to make the car safer for the track, Brakes, Wheels and Tires (slicks), Shocks, LM rear wing to keep it on the track!

With all of that, a little horsepower tweak seemed in order, so Tubi Comp, Carobu LM chips, K&N airfilter, LM Turbo's. I have gone about as far as I plan to go.

Everything I have done we can unbolt and return to stock (although I have no plans of EVER selling my F40)

I do not race in so far as a checkered flag is concerned, but I might have stopwatch to keep score!

Sounds like John is very serious though!

Chris, sounds like you might not be coming to MSR this weekend? The owner Rick has been bugging me every other day about different things. Should be a really fun weekend. Only a few Ferraris, but several FCA people there in other cars.

William, sorry to go along with the outside conversation but my curiosity is peaked. John and Cmparff, do you race your F40's? It sounds like you are doing some very cool stuff. Are you installing all this equiptment for use on the track? Just curious?

WOW the TPS chips produces less HP than stock? I just checked and looks like I have TPS chips too.

how much did you pay for the Carobu chips? can you only use them with the LM turbo's? how much for those turbo's?

William,

I bought a Tilton dual master cylinder bracket today, that while not bolt-on is a very easy install. I have never owned a TR, so I am not familiar with the peddle box arrangement, but I think this may be an excellent solution for you.

I sent you an e-mail with my number if I can help.

Chris

I'm in Austin Tx. Would you be interested in a Motec M880 conversion for your F40? I am planning to go to a 3.6 liter motor next year and wanted the tuneability that the MOTEC offered. I am going to remove my motor to service the engine and build a new harness. The diagnostic ability of the MOTEC is the feature that I most want since I service the car myself. With the Motec, you can tune the car off of the O2 sensor. Bob Norwood in Dallas is working with me and he is great! If you are interested let me know. I looked at the CAROBU Motec set-up but prefer a complete stand alone installation as opposed to using the factory harness. I want to use as many off of the shelf (chevy) sensors as possible.

John, yes I got my Turbo's from Ted Rutland, I hope to have them installed by weeks end.

I will get the part numbers.

I also received my CAROBU LM chips today I am anxious to see what they do for my car.

I just found out that the chips in my car were made by TPS (Total Performance Systems) in Florida, these "Performance" chips actually made LESS horsepower than stock, so CAROBU should be a big improvement.

Where do you live John? I am in Kansas City.

I'm to busy to post a picture at the moment but there is one of it in the little F40 book that shows the EVO with the front open. It took about 3 months to get it but Brembo should be able to pry one out of Micheloto(?). I elected only to buy the casting and fabricate the rest with a CNC brakes, rod end bearing balance bar. I copied the factory balance knob as well. Thanks to your work with Brembo, I was able to get them to quote me an 8 piston caliper set-up with 378 mm rotors. I have called them several times in the past but they told me that nothing was available for my car. Now I will get the set-up that I wanted at less than the cost of the parts themselves. Before I got the Speedline forged magnesium wheels, there was a question of whether or not the caliper would clear. These wheels are awesome. 18 X 10.5 F and 18 X 13 rear . Required me to remake the front brake ducts but well worth it. What's up with the LM turbos? If you need, I can send you my stock ECU chips if you need to test them. I got my LM turbos from T. Rutlands. Are yours IHI ball bearing? Could you tell me the model number? Got mine a while back and wanted to see if there was anything new. Apparently all of the new replacement turbos are the LM style.

John, it is not nice to tease me!

We just ordered a remote pedal box from Tilton. We will need to fabricate a simple shelf to bolt it to, but no major fabrications and no holes have to be drilled.

Should have installed by next week,

Sounds like a cool system John, any chance of you posting some pic's?

There exists an F40 dual master cylinder pedal box that they made for the LM,GT,GTE. I have one for my F40 but I am almost ashamed to tell you what it costs. Super trick, cast mag, typical Italian attention to detail. Safety Devices makes a power brake booster double master cylinder set-up that you can run with an electric vacuum pump. Really trick and super stopping. Bolt right onto the stock location but you must use the power booster.

Chris, I told Mark my brakes were fading & he didnt believe me, Oh well, I got some track temps for him & will ask him about adding another master cylinder. Oddly enough I seem to drive faster when I have less brake available :-)

Moving to Miami this month, Gonna stick around Homestead, Moroso, & Sebring but thanks for the invite. Let me know if u do any events in FLA or GA & I could b tempted

William, talk to Mark, he did the design on my system. Yes, it sounds you have the same problem I have with the stock master.

I also upgraded to titanium pistons (a $3,000) upgrade to keep heat away from the calipers.

Where do you live? There is going to be a track event Nov 9th at Gateway in St Louis, would love to see you there.

Chris , thanks thats a good idea, gonna ask the engineer at Brembo. Maybe thats why mny brakes fade after 4 or 5 hot laps.

Arnaldo, there r several choices for upgrade kit for the TR, its the 512TR that had no upgrades available

William,
congrats on your brakes! As you may have read, I sent my car to Brembo in Costa Mesa for a brake upgrade as well.

Some free advice, the master cylinder on my F40 proved inadequete to handle the new brakes, I suggest you consider changing to a dual master cylinder set-up. Brembo makes the master cylinders, buy a balance bar from Tilton.

You will have to have a machine shop build a "bridge" to bolt your masters to. We are in the early steps of developing the bridge for the F40.

I have watched you run, and you are damn fast, but if your TR is like my F40, you could have a problem stopping with your stock master cylinder.

best of luck, chris

Thanks.
