Couple Hints here...
Alarm Remotes for US cars retail for $225- There is about an hour of labor to learn the remotes, and FNA can provide the code if it is lost, but it does take time. As well, it takes time to order the remotes, about 3 weeks.

360 Owners...
Dont want to pay $68 for a key, and have a bulky key, buy the 355/456/550 key. It works just fine, and is easier to carry around. If you were to order a cut key from the dealer, that is what Ferrari SpA would send for the 360 FYI.

I have more of an issue with the alarm remote. I will pay the dealer price for the key but also lost my spare remote with it. The dealer says that if I do not have the code they have to call Ferrari and it will cost $400.00 for the remote and it may take a while to get it done. Has anyone heard of this? I do not have the code anywhere in my manual packet and do not know where it is.

I can get what you need, I am a locksmith-among other things- with many resources for the blanks. I stock a few of the 308 plain metal blanks for my cars. I strongly suggest having a locksmith cut keys rather than Walmart/HomeDepot as they rarely calibrate their machines.
Thanks
Erik
Remember- I have replacement Zipper Covers, high wattage bulbs, HID setups, CAT bypass pipes and Electromotive setups too.

Bubba,
sorry, just went to the locksmith no idea where they buy their blanks.
Check with your locksmith, they are usually very helpful. I am sure the TR and the Mondial are pretty much the same. Check with your F-dealer if that is the case.

Check this one out guys:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1853051478

Does the Mondial and 512TR share the same size ignition key blanks? I saw somewhere that different Ferraris up to 1995 used the same size keys. Is this true? The Mondial and 512TR ignition keys look very similar in appearance and size.

I went to a local locksmith and got the "ilco" blanks for under $5.00 Remember, these are spare keys, they don't have to be folding! Hopefully, you'll never need them.

I bought the set off Ebay months ago. The only that worked was ignition. It seems the gas key is just a liitle off and I never found use for the middle key. 1978 308 GTS

The key blanks show on www.jaggraveyard.com are standard Ilco blanks. They can be found at any decently stocked locksmith. You can get them, for two or three dollars...

Martin, does Orion also make blanks for Mondial and 512TR? Do you have their contact details? Thanks!

Call Ferrari of Washington and they sell you the original Ferrari folding key for less than $20.

Sometimes it is cheaper to by at Ferrari direct than to buy on eBay guys!!!

Having a minimum handling charge is understandable, but the charge should match the product offered. In any case, I will browse around his site and see if I can find a list of items I can buy, so that the shipping charge wouldn't become totally disproportional.

Hi Peter,

I just looked at his "auction", and you're right.
$18 is outrageous (maybe he's trying to offset all his listing fees). Please check his website, his shipping on the "website" is $8 for USPS International...You save more (save 90%) on shipping with every item you buy...I guess that's his "handling fee" for single items no matter how small...

When I ordered, I got 6 other items (some large items) sent to me at a total cost of $8.00

There is an ebay item listed as "Ferrari key blanks" for 308s, Mondials, etc.

S.P., just saw 1 of his auctions on eBay for Ferrari blank keys. He wants to charge $18(?!?) for shipping outside the US by USPS! This is outrageous for 1 little key! Airmail wouldn't cost him more than $1.

Thanks for the info. I will check the local dealer and see what their price is. If it's too outrageous I will get them from the states.

I bought keys from my local locksmith for about $2 each. No, they're not original Ferrari keys, they're just plain jane blanks that happen to fit my lock. They're spare keys.

Peter, I bought a set of keys from Jaggravyard. They are not exactly the same original keys that say Neiman on them but they are the same size and of good quality. John

I purchased two blanks from Miller Motorcars
in Connecticut for $ 12.50 each. Took the blanks
to a locksmith that they suggested as the local
guy refused to cut steel blanks. Got them cut
for $ 7.50 each. Both work flawlessly.

If you need more info or help drop me an email.

It's all relative. Personally, I am not bothered about paying that much myself. Just sympathizing with Eamon.

Anyway, can we get back to my original inquiry, please?

Eamon, I think there is no way around it. An original Ferrari foldable uncut key is being sold on Ebay for over US$20.

Our 512TR and Mondial came with only 1 set of keys. The local locksmith cannot duplicate them because he doesn't have the blanks to do so.

Any idea where I can get hold of some blanks? I think there was someone on Ebay auctioning them, but I don't think he has them for the Mondial or 512TR.

Come to think of it, the Mondial ignition key looks very similar sizewise to the 512TR's. Could both models be using the same blank keys?
