I just got a quote to repair the minor damage to hood where someone tried to pry off my hood emblem and then took screw driver to hood. Shop wants to spray entire front clip from doors forward to make sute paint looks un-blended. Just over $900.00. Seems fair price to me.

There's no Ferrari dealer in Vegas? That seems strange.

Dave, I just assumed stoneguard was a spray on product. I have no idea what it is or how it is put on. I can tell you that it makes a huge difference. Little imperfections, scratches, bugs, chips, etc. just do not show very well. I really like it.

Thanks everyone for the replies this gives me an Idea for a few micro chips on my front and lower front door

I took the car into Dent Pro they had previously fixed a small area on my previous 911 and did a excellent job for 300.00, when I brought the Ferrari to them they quoted $1100.00 which seemd a little high which I equated to a Ferrari tax, they also switched from Glasurit to now using Glidden paint since then

I have no Ferrari dealer here in Vegas the closest is Salt Lake so I guess I'll shop around more for a shop that uses Glasurit

Regards

Jeff

Regardless of what some book may say, my Ferraris all had Glasurit paint labels on them from the factory. I do believe that 355 and newer Ferraris are using PPG paint.

Frank, I'm not sure about the newer cars, but according to Keith Bluemel in "Original Ferrari V12", the 330 had either PPG or Duco originally. He states the same for the 365GT4 2+2 so my guess is that the same would be true of the 400. I don't have "Original Ferrari V8" but I'll bet it will specify the paint manufacturer used on the 328 and 348.

Anyway, I'm sure none of this is really helping Jeff. Sorry for taking the thread off-track.

I know my 328, TR, 400 and 348 all had Glasurit paint from the factory. I believe my 330 had Glasurit too but I don't remember.

David, according to my sources, Pininfarina (Ferrari does not paint their own cars) has traditionally used PPG or Duco. Any Scaglietti bodied cars were painted using Glidden & Salchi.

If I'm not mistaken, Ferrari used Glidden paint, then went to Glasurit, and now uses PPG.

"It included chip repairs on the euro airdam and a stoneguard spray over it as well"

I'm not familiar with "stoneguard spray" - I thought it was only the 3M plastic sheet that sticks on. Is there a spray-on version? Sounds like an extremely thick clear-coat?

I frequently spend about $250 for the lower part of the front bumper. Stongard is a great product. I am not sure though on the 328 the lower part is black isn't it? That should be relatively easy to re-paint.

Otherwise try to find a shop that uses GLASURIT paint, which is the original paint. Costs a little more but worth it IMHO

I have the fiberglass Euro front spoiler on my 308, and it gets looking bad every 6 months or so...
I just get a fiberglass repair kit and fix it myself when it gets bad enough...
I also went to O'Riley auto parts and had them computer match the paint color on my car...
Then I had them make up a gallon of PPG Concept DCC paint...
When the front end looks bad enough I pull it off and respray the whole thing.
For the little chips I leave it on the car and use a smaller detail gun for touch up work...
For all the paint and supplies to fix my car many times over, I spent $404.25....
I have enough paint to repaint my entire car if I like, and the paint match was perfect.

I believe the technique of blending the paint from one body panel to the next is called "burning it in" or so I was told years ago by a bodyshop owner.

Mine was done for $500. It included chip repairs on the euro airdam and a stoneguard spray over it as well. He did a nice job considering it's black metallic and he had to blend the color "by hand" to get it to match. He told me he had to spray onto the front and sides of the car, not just the hood. He couldn't just paint the hood because it would look different then the older fender paint right next to it.

I just had my front valence panel (F355) redone. It cost $450 to repair a couple of areas (road rash and a scrape) on the fiberglass, and another $450 to repaint.

I removed and had my air dam repaired(3 holes and other damage and repainted for $300. Had the repair done at a boat repair shop, its fiberglass and I removed and replaced it myself. Roger B.

Use the same body shop the dealer uses. Cost for a 360 bumper respray and to fix other paint chips is $450.00. Match is perfect (though I have a non-metallic color, which I've heard makes for a good match).

ABOUT ONCE A YEAR IT NEEDS PAINT. IF YOU USE A GOOD SHOP YOU CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE. FOR SOME REASON THE FERRARI PAINT DOESN'T SEEM THE WORK AGAINST THE PEBBLES ON THE ROADWAY. USED THE SAME BODY SHOP THE DEALER USES.

About $1,000 for the bumper repaint. Can't tell the difference but seems more durable on the un-Stongard-ed areas than the orignal paint. Used the same bodyshop that the dealer uses.

I had mine done at Ferrari of Houston, which has the only factory paint shop for hundreds of miles. IT AIN'T CHEAP. I did the front end clip & the mirrors, and then had Stongard applied right after the paint had cured for a week or so w/o driving the car.

Those of you that have had your front resprayed can you give approximate costs and tell if you are satisfied with paint match and results

Did you use a touch up specialty shop such as Dent Pro or regular shop?

Thanks in advance
