Interesting story for all those F car doubters! I somehow can't imagine that 'off the cuff repair' happening at the Nissan, Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford or any other huge manufacturers assembly plant!

cool Luuk, sweet car you have there.i think Masers are built in Modena and maybe the engines are assembled in Maranello.but since the two companies are tied in i guess you should expect them coming and going all the time, kinda like the Lamborghini works with the parking lot full of Audis.

Hi Luuk, good to see a Dutch ferrari owner on the board.
Great story, must've been some trip. Funny to see your beautiful 348 parked next to your tent on the campsite. Dont think too many of the backpackers there had the same form of transportation next to their tents huh?

So cool you saw the enzo in person. Can't wait too see it at the nurburgring. Btw,are you planning on visiting the ferrari days at the ring too? You really should !

One more thing, where are you located in holland? Ive always got my eyes open for F-cars on the road but dont think ive spotted yours so far.

Again, great car, keep it clean! :]
(If you ever get bored with it, give me a call)

That Enzo is so damn sexy...I've liked it from the moment I saw it.

Nice pics and story...your english is pretty good, like Daren said, much better than our Hollandaise. :-)

That sounded like you had a great time. I bet that the guys at the factory looked up the part and then made a new one for you from scratch. That is way cool.

Hey you did just fine with your English. As a matter of fact English is my native language, and I think it is a stupid language. Why aren't words spelled the way they sound in English? The same spelling can have three different sounds.

Welcome to the group Luuk.

Luuk,

Awesome story and pics! Keep the great stories coming.

Holland- The Dutch, home of the best technical soccer(Football) team in the world! I went to the 1/4 final world cup 1994 game in Dallas (Home) Holland Vs. Brazil. Best soccer game I have every seen! Period! Sorry for the off subject stuff. Nothing like the Dutch National Soccer Team!

Alright back to Ferraris.

Big Dutch Soccer and Ferrari Fan!!!

Your trip wouldn't have been as much fun without the broken part.
Personal factory help with a breakdown is really cool.

Luuk, thatk you for the wonderful story. That is truly a dream come true--having Ferrari factory mechanics fabricate a part while you waited to fix your Ferrari!

And, please do not apologize for your English skills. They are better than those of many Americans. Heaven knows, your English skills are better than most of our Dutch skills (just ignore the guy who said Hollandaise :-) )

Wow, Luuk...what an incredible adventure! Thanks for sharing with us. My dream is to visit the factory one day.

Glad that it all turned out well for you in the end. You certainly are lucky too, especially getting to see the new Enzo's in person!

On 10 august a friend of me and I plant a trip to Italy just for fun to look at the Ferrari factory and to drive my 348 for 1540 Km. We started early at 7.00 Pm so we estimated to arrive in the evening at 8 Am. In Switzerland the clutch wasnt working, as it should be, the pressure was almost gone. Ones we arrived at our destiny we placed our tent at a camping it was located only 100 Km from Marranello at the Garda Lake in Italy. The next morning we phoned a garage for mechanic help on my car. Ones the car was at the garage we tried to find a Ferrari service station nearby we made phone calls to 24 different Ferrari dealer but everyone was on holiday or just closed, so we where on our own. After a phone call to my service dealer in Holland they told us that the problem of the clutch would by a leaking bearing and that it wasnt hard to fix, after I told them that I could not get any parts in Italy I gave them the address where the garage was so they could sent me the part. It would take 3 days at least I was informed. So we started to unscrew the muffler and the Clutch plates to locate the leaking bearing. The mechanic in the garage told us not to do so because a Ferrari specialist should only service a Ferrari, but we had no other opportunity. After locating the bearing we saw it almost in two peaces so the dealer was right so it needed to be replaced. We could not imagine that the home base of my car could not come op with the parts. We rent a car and the next day and we went to Marranello. At our arrival we stepped into the reception of the factory a friendly man ask us to leave because it wasnt aloud for tourist to come in to the factory. He gave us the opportunity to explain the reason of our being there, the man kindly told us to sit down so he would try to find a service station for us. After 30 minutes he told us he also could not find a place for us to service our car and that he could not help us. Whe sowed him the broken part mounted in the pressure chamber he looked at it and told us he would ask some people in the factory if the could be of any help. After 10 minutes two man arrived and ho asks to see the papers of the car I had everything on me so they wanted to check if the car was properly serviced during the 11 jeers of the cars live. Later they returned and asks us for the broken part no promises where made but maybe they could help us. Exciting as we where we waiting for another our to see the 2 man returning with the part totally sanded en with 2 new bearings on it .It looked brand new. They gave us some instructions how to mount it back on the car. We asked him what the costs where the man said this one is on the house. After many thanks to the receptionist and the 2 men we returned the next day to rebuild the car, it wasnt difficult and after 3 ours the clutch was working 100%. The next day we went back to Marranello to spot the new Ferrari Enzo. There where 3 red Enzos and 1 yellow on the test circuit. Also we saw two new (with no plates) Masseratis coming out of the Ferrari factory, they made a test drive at the circuit.
This was without any doubt for us the most exciting trip ever made. We enjoyed de trip back home very much telling each other isnt that clutch working perfectly

My apologies for not putting the words right, Im from Holland trying to fit in here.
