Are you tracking it? If not, what day are you leaving. I can try to follow you up there (just be sure to slow down and let me catch up). I am busy on friday. My friend since pre-school is leaving for college, so we, and whoever hast left yet(which is prety much no one) are all going out to a bar or something. Chances are i'll see you on saturday afternoon or sunday. |

tim, Its been awesome. Best money i have ever spent. Just wish i didnt work such long hours so i could drive it more. Have to admit, buying it with my own money felt pretty nice. There's just something about buying yourself a toy with hard earned money that feels good. You have to love this country. I'll have it up at the glen so u can check it out there.

Don't have first hand knowledge of this but people say the 95s sound "better" than the 96s on. My 95 never sounds like its bogging. Rather, it sounds very lively and responsive. With respect to any grunt below 4000, you are right...there isn't a whole lot in first gear. My brother's S4 and my M3 are both quicker to 35 MPH from a standing idle start (no revs). These cars like to be reved. I am absolutely, totally, completely, 100% addicted...and as redundant as that statement is, its the 100% truth! :-) |

Little happens below 3 or 4,000 rpm. If you want a good standing start you need some revs on the clock before letting the clutch out. Otherwise Golf GTI's will get the gap before you! But 1st goes all the way to 55mph or so and this brings the advantage back to the 355. Sort of know what you are saying about the bogging sound. I thought this when I first test drove some 355's. I think its when they are not properly heated up and you catch the engine dropping revs (overrun) and try to rev it up again. Also, remember that the throttle is quite sticky on these so it could also be that causing it. Try another one and see if its the same. Love mine and can recommend it, blipping should be great fun, love dropping down gears and blipping!! Love the 355, absolutely love the sound. (sorry just got back from driving it, reinforced my love of it!) |

Scott, I went from a 89 Tr to a 95 F355 and I would recommend you drive another 355 to make sure there isn't anything wrong with the one you drove. My first impressions of the 355 was that it was about the same to 50-60 mph and then much faster above those numbers. With a good launch the 355 didn't feel like it was slower off the line than the TR. At anything over 80 mph, the 355 felt much faster. On paper it would appear that the 355 is a second faster to 60 and a second and half faster to 100. Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23

Best thin to do is test drive another and see if it does the same thing. No shortage of 355's. Dave |

re: power under 3K, the car doesn't bolt out of first from a dead stop unless you drop the clutch revving. but once you're moving, if you're upshifting at the high end you drop in at 3K or so, so you're past that quiet spot. canyou explain "sounded like it was bogging"? i LOVE blipping the throttle - it should be a FUN sound :-) doody. |

There really isn't a lot of power under 3,000 RPM, but they rev so fast that it's not a problem. "When I blipped the throttle, the engine sort of sounded like it was bogging and didnt rev like I thought it would." I don't believe this is normal |

Well after owning the TR for 6 months I finally convinced my better half, that we "needed" a spider. Went for a test drive in a 1996 355 spider 6 speed today, and was kind of dissapointed. Car had 8K miles, and a tubi on it, but had very little power under 3000 RPM. When I blipped the throttle, the engine sort of sounded like it was bogging and didnt rev like I thought it would. My question is, is this typical. My TR while no dragster has a decent amount of torque off the line, which at least with this 355 was not the case. TIA Scott |
