Try higher tire pressure when it is hot. This reduces flexing of the tire and consequently reduces the tread temperature, making the tread a little harder which will make it last a little longer. I get pretty good service out of my Victoracers on my track car. I do track events in the south. In colder weather, I lessen the pressure so the tire warms more to grip better. Last weekend at Road Atlanta, I ran my tire pressures at 32 psi cold. I had good lap times and car handled well. My student had lower tire pressures with same tires and similar car. My lap times are 20 seconds lower than hers so obviously I am cornering harder. Yet, hers began to get that greasy feel to them because of the high tread temperature due to low tire pressure. It was in the upper 90's at Road Atlanta last weekend. I like the Kumhos. |

Neal, I've got 3 sets of Kumhos right now on the cars. I've got a set on my VW GTI VR6, a set of Victoracers on my racing wheels for the GTI VR6. And we have a set on my moms Mustang GT convertible! GO MOMMA! I have no problems with the tires, they are sticky and terrific in the rain! The Victoracers were amazing, but wore out rather quickly during a track event when it was 95 degrees! |
