something similar happened to me last summer:
I had gone to a small italian cafe that serves breakfast on the weekends. while waiting for my friend to arrive I was just staring out the window to my TR ( I had just purchased it a few months prior). I had parked it right in front of the cafe. while admiring in a hypnotic state, a large cadilac pulls up in front of the car with four silver hairs. the driver then procedes to back up...closer....closer....closer. my jaw starts dropping as I cant believe what is happening right in front of my eyes. just as the rear of the cadillac goes over the front emblem, he slams the brakes as he realizes that there IS A CAR THERE. at that point he goes forward about 6 inches and parks it.

I was still shaking when I left the place.

I was under the impression that Martial Arts taught tolerance above all else. I would suggest an anger management class before you meet up with someone who is armed and dangerous.

G Peters - did you own a restaurant in Laguna Beach? If so, please e-mail me. You do not have an e-mail on your profile. If not, please disregard.

Ernie,
I may hate bad drivers to a greater extent than anyone on this forum. I have gone to court on more assault charges than I care to remember. Thankfully for me , my Aunt is a Judge which has exonerated me from most serious charges. After spending the past 20 years training as a Martial Artist you would think I would delvelope tolerance. I see by your profile you are also a practitioner . I was lucky to train in Lima Lama under Grand Master Tuumumao "Tino" Tuiolosega of the Royal Family of Sumo. I also belong to Shadows of the Iga with S. Hayes. A few years ago we trained with Carley Gracie. Those two guys can inflict a massive amount of pain on you during a workout. Anyway have to go, see you in the ring.

PS. I drive by the last remaining farm fields here in Orange County almost everyday and I see these poor minorities toiling in every kind of weather. I think to myself and tell my kids there but by the Grace of God go I. These people are mocked by many yet without them we would not have food on our tables and the many support services they provide.

We have the same bad driving situations in Florida but they are called "Tourists". We have learned to live with them however since they bring in lots of money.

Hey I never said anything about their work ethic. I agree they are some of the hardest workers out there, and want a better life just like the rest of us. But as far as driving, they are idiots.

As far as my name goes, your correct, it is a hispanic surname. My father is from mexico. I don't consider my self superior to anyone. I have driven heaps of junk for a car, and have worked as a dish washer, busboy, gardener, window washer, and even went to look for work in the fields. But that has no bearing on the way people drive. Call it what you want, but when someone pulls out infront of you without looking, AT ALL, it will make your heart jump. This kind of thing happens alot where I live, and the majority of the time it is the same kind of people.

At least I have the balls to say what many think.

Nick ,
In Germany they don't hand everybody a drivers license like they do here for $20.00 and a promise to learn how to park one day. You must attend a proper driving school and qualify for a license. That attitude would not work here because it would exclude the person that doesn't have money to attend (cost is from several hundreds to a thousand) . Yet everybody here complains that the other guy can't drive. Poor drivers exist at all social and economic levels it's just that the wealthy get excused for their screw ups.
Just pissed me off that that guy felt he was better than the "immigrants" . Like I said these are the people who do the jobs that this guy is too superior to do.

I'm mostly a lurker here, but I think I have to chime in with G.Peters on this one. Believe me, I can't stand bad driving as a much as the next guy, but coming down on a group of people like some of you are doing is, well...kinda immature, and childish...not really what I would expect from a crowd of Ferrari folks. I'm sure I'll get flamed and told to go away and keep lurking, but wrong is wrong.......I'm done and back to lurking.

Hey, I live in the city next to Ernie (maybe 5 miles away) he speaks the trueth. I had a friend rear-end a family of 8 driving in a car that should only seat 4. They slammed on the brakes unexpectedly, guess how much money they got??

Somehow you feel your superior to these people?
These poor people pick your food, clean your hotel rooms when you travel ,make your clothes. You must be the only person in the world who has never done something stupid when you drive. Bonilla ,isn't that a immigrant name (non WASP )that could be you driving some piece of sh_t and some Ayrian making fun of you.

I think the old farts need to stay off the road. My grandmother was wize enough to know she was too old to drive, and gave me her car when she quit driving. If the time comes that I am to old to react properly to road conditions, I will do the same as my grandma and quit driving.

Some other aweful drivers are these migrants. Now you guys know how nice it is to drive on the twisty back roads. Well I'm on one of those good ole back roads cookin along, when ahhhhhh this obivious migrant woman, in an old mini-van full of people, pulls out on the road. Thanks goodness the boys at Ferrari did there homework on brakes.

I steer clear from the Seniors. It's not their fault, and I try not to get too angry because someday I will be in their shoes driving my new F- and then everyone better steer clear of me.

Talk about being at the right place at the right time, in the right car. Elderly people who still drive scare the heck outta me sometimes. God knows my grandmother is still terrorizing Boca Raton!

Here's the story. My 308 was acting up last week so I took it in for service (fuel injection). This left me with my Nissan Gasfinder to take to a prestigious golf course event yesterday instead of the 308. Boy am I glad I took the Nissan. On the way to the Country Club,I'm sitting at a light with two old bags of bones(ie, silverheads) in the car right ahead of me. A huge metro bus is trying to make the turn on the green side of the light but can't quite swing it cause the old ladies are too far up. So you can probably guess what happens next - the old bag starts to back up to give the bus more room. Now, mind you, I'm about 8 feet behind her and already leaning for life on my horn - but to no avail ---she backs right into me! Now the silver lining (not head) to this story is the front bumper at the license plate area of a Nissan Gasfinder is basically plastic & forgiving. Actually, no damage was done. And thanks to my Ferrari being in the garage and I wasn't able to take it (which I certainly would have otherwise)and thanks to the fuel injection problem I am extremely happy to pronounce that I'm not in for body work on my 308 as I know it's front end wouldn't have faired as well as the Nissan.

So the lesson in all of this is, the next time your Ferrari needs service - don't sweat it too much! You never know when the Ferrari god is looking out for you!!!
