I had my 355 "towed" recently (just a broken ignition wire). I did interview three towing companies to find one which seemed experienced. They sent a driver and a foreman with a long-bed flatbed, two sets of ramps and wheel straps for securing the car instead of chains. They took their time, moved the ramps several times and were very careful not to scrape the bottom of the car in any way. I rode with the foreman in the tow truck while the flatbed driver followed. About 4 blocks from the site, he said over the radio "uh, the car fell off the flatbed." Caught my attention, but he was just joking.

Good call Bret, that is correct. When I towed my car (a coolant hose blew) they had to use boards and a couple extra ramps to get it on the flatbed.

But you must tell them its a Ferrari.

You can't tow it anyway in the sense of having either the front or rear wheels on the ground because you'll wipe out the nose. I've seen quite a few on flatbeds (mostly 355s and 360s) and they seem to be fine. I have a family friend that owns a tow truck company so that's where I would go. Just make sure if you call them that you tell them that it is a Ferrari because then they'll bring extra ramps and boards because most likely you wont be able to get it on a flatbed without them. I would definitely be there when they come to pick it up.

William, I totally agree. The word "towed" doesn't even belong here. A flat bed is the only way to go and yes, be there when they pick it up. Too much to leave to someone who doesn't know or doesn't care about how he handles your car. How are you coming along with your problem? MAGOO

Flatbed is first. When my trans broke I had the car flatbedded back from NY & the driver who was pretty cool was telling horror stories about his Co-workers who r the owners kids & who have damaged several cars cus they didnt know what they were doing. I would say its a good idea to b there when they hook it up

I've seen several people say now that they have had problems with their car and had it "towed". What do you look for when you need to have your vehicle towed? Do you check these places out first? Are they willing to accept the responsibility? Have they damaged your car? What experiences have you had?

Just collecting knowledge for my files....
