When my '82 308 was in a fender bender last summer the body shop removed my prancing horses and reapplied them to their tool boxes. The paint under the decals had not faded and matched after the glue was removed. |

I have peeled many stickers off cars (dealer logos) as well as other items. Heat will help get the sticker off but you may still need to clean off the leftover glue. I would be very careful if you have any kind of paint problems- chipping,peeling, etc. I have found that "Goo Gone" works very well on leftover glue and doesn't seem to damage the finish -- except for the wax, of course.
It is best to try to pull the decal back over itself (forming a very sharp bend) and pull very slowly along the stuck on part of the decal. I've seen people try to pull a decal straight off and pulling paint off with it! |

Great advise, thanks, but have you done this, I'd hate to try to peal off only to find some of it remains stuck on. What about paint chips (as highlighted in "SML's" message yesterday? Should they be touched-up or left alone. I have a few around the door (most likely from previous owner opening the door and hitting a wall or something). Thanks. |

I would take them off. Try to heat up the sticker with a hair dryer, and that should help remove the stickers. Also, I would wax and buff the area to get rid of any color difference from the sticker being on so long. If the car was garaged you should be able to remove the stickers and not see any sign of them. Joseph |

I just purchased a 1986 328 GTS that has the Ferrari decal on each side of the car (just ahead of the car doors). The previous owner had them put on by the dealer. Should I take them off, and if so, how? (they were put on about 1.5 yrs ago). thanks. |
