The stick on raised enamelled shields look 'ok', but there is absolutely no comparison to how 'fantastic' the correctly recessed factory fit shields look, just my two penneth.

Hi Eric, the badges for the 308 are 3/32 thick also and match the curve of the 308's front fender perfectly. Check out my add is the "adds"
section here. It's under "parts". They are really nice looking, if you dont like what they look like when you hold them up to your car, just call me & send 'em back for a full refund.

Red,

Do you have a name and number for the body shop in California you spoke of?

Thanks

Some more information---for 360's
Sticker price for the Shields is $1188- on 2002 cars. As far as getting them done after the fact, it is possible and a body shop in California has done it, and made it look better then Ferrari. The body shop had a special tool made to do the indentation, and even though it is pricey, it is straight, and FLUSH with the paint. No raised lip or anything even close.
Oh and by the way, to buy a new fender, you have to buy both left and right, and the front center part on the hood...it is designed by F- to be a one piece design!!!

Nick...I've been contemplating purchasing a set of your fender badges for the 308. What is the approximate thickness of the 308 badges -- is it the new 1/32" thickness? Also, I assume they will fit the 308 fender curvature without any modifications, correct? Just curious. (I'm currently using the stick-on shields purchased from the dealer). Thanks.

I Just placed a new add in the FerrariAds.com area.
I have 3 sets of 360 Modena Enameled Scuderia Badges. They fit the 360's fender perfectly. They look very nice on the Modena, even if you dont have them recessed into the fender. (ask Eli) The badges are only 3/32 thick (get out your rulers) which is pretty thin. If you have ever noticed the Ferrari's which have the badges recessed at the factory, usualy the badge is not totaly recessed. About 1/32 of an inch is "sticking" out from the fender. Every other car on this planet has normal ID badges which are not recessed, & they look OK.
I see no reason why a badge without a recessed area in the fender would look strange. But, I understand everybody has thier picadillos. hehe. If interested in them, check out my adds. (There is also pair which fit the 308, 328, 348, 355 & Daytona). badge

I'm with Bruce on the shields, he put them on my wife's car in our garage and they look great. He's the expert here. I'm glad they stick on, I'd never have the courage to drill.

JIm, I think Nick has the ones to fit the TR perfectly. Mine did not fit the curve on the 360 but he offered to give me my money back . I ended up taking to a body shop and have them roll it a bit to fit the curve of my fender. You should speak to him.

what about the curve of the fenders? A testarossa fender is shaped different than a 360. Are the shields flexible? The bolt on ones look like they are not. Eli says his are metal also.

Hey Guys -- Here is a pair of Sheilds that I purchased from Europe -- I am just trying to get the courage up to drill the holes???? As does Bruce I have a pair of Magnetics on my car now, but boy these Acrylic w/ 3-d sculpted Horse look awesome -- anybody got a suggestion (if I get the guts to drill) on what to put underneath so that the paint is not worn and rust appears? I am going to try and upload a pic?

Like Bruce I have the adhesive shields which IMHO
looks pretty authentic until one gets up very close and sees there is no recession.
Paid $10 ea at the dealer.

Pretty sure shields are a 1k ($1003?) option. Was told by friend who worked in factory that shields are particularly popular on US-bound cars.

Actually, I was thinking of Nick on the classifieds (that Eli mentions) when I quoted my figures. $1000 for the shields, but he says a $3000 option new?? I like his shields that Eli has.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the factory shields are closer to $950-$1050 not $3000.

We need to add the "shield" discussion to the list with floor mats and car wax. Jim, buy the acrylic ones, stick them to some magnetic backing, remove at will. I've had mine on up to 120mph with no problems and they've never scratched my car.

I dont have magnet shield on my Ferrari, but I did use magnetic sheets with numbers on them for track days with my Porsche 993. I could hit 145+ on the main straight at Roebling Road and they never came off. They also dont scratch the paint. I got the magnetic material from Mail Boxes ect.

If I were going to do shields, I would want it magnetic and then I could just put them on when I want. However, this would mean taking them off when parking in public as I would expect they would get stolen.

Yes the domed stick on acrylic is what I was talking about. Don't really want stickers and not sure about drilling mount holes. Never heard of magnets, that sounds risky. What about the curvature of the fender? Are the shields flexible to accomodate any car? I have also seen different sizes (bigger) on older cars.

JIM

I HAVE RAISED VINYL S/F SHIELDS ON MY TR THAT LOOK GREAT FOR 8.00 EACH..INDENTED ONES ARE EXPENSIVE AND IF NOT DONE RIGHT, KISS YOUR FENDER GOODBYE..THEY GET 1 CHANCE TO RECESS THEM IN YOUR FENDER..

MAGNET ONES TEND TO SCRATCH(IF NOT UNDERLINED RIGHT) AND FALL OFF...

MY 2 CENTS...GOOD LUCK..

It may be a better idea to order the Shields as an option from the factory. I would hate to have someone drill into the quarter panel. Too many things can go wrong.

I heard the magnets will stay on the car until 120mph. Problem is when you park your F-car, they will probably disappear.

I believe Bruce W. has the adhesive raised acrylic "dome type" of SF shields...perhaps he can comment. (Hi Bruce!)

I dont know that you can duplicate the indentation now. Check the newhope result thread. You should se some stickers on Tr's etc. They look ok they are just high.

How do you make a indentation in your fender after the fact? does it require repainting?

They were always reserved for the race cars only until recently. You can buy the stickers or the magnets. The recessed ones you saw are factory.I think they look cool. I was thinking about having them airbrushed on my 400.

Just looking at a red 360 in parking garage and noticed it had the shields on the fender. I also noticed they were recessed in the body and not just stuck on. Got me thinking....what is the deal with them?

I know they come as a factory option for $3000. I know you can buy them for $1000 or get the kit car stickers for cheap. I also saw somebody on here selling the real ones for $300 each.

Do they mean anything?
Does the area have to be recessed?
Is it stupid to stick them on a car later?

I personally like them alot, but would hate to funk up my car with something that does not belong.
