What a difference; sitting in front of my computer/driving on the track. Well, I got home late last night....
So many topics to touch on so I will take them one at a time.
Im VERY HAPPY with the way the event turned out. The FCA really finished the track season on a high note! We work hard to put together these events, and nothing makes me happier when it turns out like it did.
Jon, always great to hang with you at the track, you run a very nice line at the Glen. No more speed secrets for you. By the way, was your dry cleaner able to remove that stain from the seat of your racing suit?
William, running hard, learning the abilities of his new brakes. A true die hard enthusiast; drove with him the next two days as well.
Solly, really good to have some laughs with you, and I enjoyed that ride in your car..nice car control. Not to mention, nice car. Let me know if you like me to shake out that F40 you are thinking of getting. It will be a pleasure.
Paul, great to have you attend our event! Even though there was small damage, nothing that cant be taken care of. The smile on your face showed that you will be the first in line for the next event.
Kenny, very sorry that I was not able to get you into my car for a run. Next time, I promise.
Greg, the long ride was worth it, huh?
Rick, you have now used your get out of jail free card, next time, you and I get you out on the track with that BEAUTIFUL 355 you picked up!
Rob Lay, just so you know, FC was well represented this past weekend.
Now.......on Tuesday, I bought a half hour of time and had David Murray (a professional factory driver for Porsche as well as BMW) coach me. I have to tell you now....watch out!! Jon, you thought the braking was intense then....he has me taking it to an all new level.....trail braking through the first right and left of the chicane.....SICK!! Left foot braking in the carasole while under acceleration; SICK AGAIN!!!....and so much other crazy sh*t.....I think 2:04 should not be far off!! It will take me some time to be able to be consistent in what I learned, but at that point...all bets are off!!
Anyway, I had a great time with all you guys, and all the work was more than worth it.
This is only the start of more to come.

Jon, you did a wonderful job summing up a great weekend ! Even though I went into a gravel pit at 90mph I still say it was the best time I've had yet in my 355c.

Jon,

Paul and I did drive ~8 hours it was absolutely worth it. What a great track and what great people. Rarely have I been to a track event with so few incidents (although that white 308 made up for everyone!)

Next year I'll have to get a ride with Matt!

See everyone next year for an even bigger and better event.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the Empire State Region FCA members, including Matt Karson and Bob Coates for all the hard work in putting on a spectacular event. Every year it gets bigger and better.

Over 100 cars showed up for three days of wonderful weather and hard running. My Challenge car went through a set of rotors, a set of pads, two front slicks and an alternator, but it sure was fun.

We had about a half dozen 360 C's, a dozen plus 355 C's, a couple of Porsche 962's, a Radical 1500, F2 car and of course no Glen event is complete without at least a few 333SP's. William also brought out his TR with new Brembo brakes. The red group looked like a Grand Am or Challenge race with all the race machinery out there.

Mr. Karson was able to chop 3 seconds off my best times with a few new lines and one early shift into 5th in turn 2. Thanks Matt!

Speaking of Matt, he was also nice enough to take me out for a spin in his 355 C. As most of you know Matt owns the Glen and rumor has it he sleeps in a tent at the track nearly all year long. And it shows. We ran nose to tail with Barry Smith's 355 C for 5 laps with Matt braking literally inches off his rear bumper. In fact Matt brakes so late in turn 1 that at one point I though his brakes had failed and stuck my hand out towards his dash. I thought for sure we were going into Barry's car or the kitty litter, but Matt just brakes on the limit every time.

What an event. I didn't want to leave. For those of you who have never been to Watkins Glen, I highly recommend it. It's a world class track that ranks right up there with Road Atlanta, Lime Rock, Road America, and Laguna. It's well worth the drive even if you live 8 or 9 hours away.

Regards,

Jon P. Kofod
