Kevin, nothing personal I promise, but the asking prices in the Ferrari Market Letter are usually way off base!! All a bunch of brokers and dealers putting in cars with STUPID asking prices. I can promise you that not a single car trades at those prices. I understand that Gerald Rousch does a great job with his publication, and that he has nothing to do with the asking prices. If I ever need a good laugh at the dealers and brokers, I just read the Ferrari Market Letter. If I want an interesting Op/Ed/Informative article, I will read what Gerald writes.

Speaking of falling prices: I know a local guy (near Atlanta) who just bought a red/tan '90 Mondial t cab with 39k miles for $35k including the 30k service. I see those advertised in the FML and Hemmings all the time for $50-$55k. Guess they really have to discount them if they want to sell 'em.

Hemmings advertiser prices are insane. For a big laugh, I always check the Corvette section. Thousands of pre-1968 vintage Corvettes and every one is worth at least $50,000. What a joke. If you keep up on the Corvette world like I do quite often, you see the same guys advertising the same cars and parts month after month, sometimes year after year. They don't REALLY want to sell anything, they are just dreaming and fishing.

I have noticed that the average asking price for a 308 at the hemmings site has risen quite a bit.

I generally use the ferrari market letter (ferrarimarketletter.com) for gauging price movement. the 355 spider ask has dropped 6.07% over the past six months (to 130.1k from 138.5k) i think the economy is also affecting prices esp. with lower volume if cars moving.

theyre not all going down -- the 512 bb is up 10% and the 246 dino gt is up 8.5%

asking prices for 95 GTBs are between $90 and $110K, selling prices are between $85 and $100 depending on condition, miles, documentation, color, authorized dealer, yada, yada, yada.

imo, it's a factor of summer wrapping up and these guys being slow to update their ferrarina.com listings.

getting over-sticker for a '99 355 spider has been very tough to do since 2002 started (based on my research - YMMV). that doesn't mean they won't ASK for it though!

i've seen a few places now that simply won't post 550 prices 'cuz they've been falling so rapidly (an irrational decrease, IMO).

doody.

Jeff, I have seen 95 355 prices below $100k for months and months. I am looking for a 2001 360 Spider right now for a client, he wants to spend about $200k for it.

Maybe they are just feeling guilty about the prices.

I was checking Market Place @Ferrarina.com. Some dealers have drastically lowered their prices. Algar lowered a 2001 360 Spider from $245K to $229k. They are a couple of 1999 355 F1 spiders below their origianl sticker price and a 1995 355 below a $100K. This is the first time I have seen that happen. And these are only just asking prices. I wonder what is going on? Is it the economy, or winter approaching, or 2003 models coming in October?
