Paul, great to hear that the minor injury has been taken care of. You got up, dusted yourself off, and are ready to spank her again!! Dont tell the Glen that you have their gravel...they may charge you... See you there next season!!

Matt, your original post was great ! Within 24-hours after I got back home I had the slightly bent lower control arm in my hand and I had determined that all else is well. Greg hung around to help me disassemble the car before he flew back to Florida. I did indeed have a great time and I want to come back next year. I plan to bring a friend that has a 360c.

I have so much Watkins Glen pea gravel in the floor of my garage I feel I need to mail it back :-)

Thanks for all that you did in this event.

I think I already have the record for a 512TR at Watkins :-) at 2:14:6 Dunno if Jeff ever bested that time. I want to see a 2:10 some day. If I can see 2:14 & lower in my road car the race 512TR should be good for 2:00:00 with a little practice & some testosterone

Jon, you are absolutely right....
2:02 is only achievable if one has the 'I dont care factor'. I care, and I will NEVER see 2:02.
The funny part of getting these better times, is that I find that I am working less, and putting the car in less precarious situations than when I was slower. My main concern is mechanical, not body. I might do a preventative rebuild, as Im sure the car (as much as she loves being spanked) is running near its mechanical limit.
For the record, I will stop trying to go faster when I have beaten 2:04.90 (standing track record for 355 Challenge Car.)
By the way Jon, Im looking forward to some pointers from you, when I see you down at your home track - Summit Point.

William,

Have Matt go out with you. He cut about 2 seconds off my time with a few different lines and a short shift into 5th in turn 2. I was doing 2:13's and he got me down to 2:10's and 2:11's in no time.

Hope you make it out to Summit this fall.

Regards,

Jon

My best time in my BIG redhead was 2:14, which isnt bad for almost 2 tons of road car. I know the car can see 2:09 but I'm not quite ready for that yet :-) Better stain proof my drivers suit first :-)

"was your dry cleaner able to remove that stain from the seat of your racing suit?"

Matt,

Which one are you referring to? The one from my passenger when he took a ride in my car and got slightly sick, or the one in my suit when you braked so late I thought we were going to play bumper cars with Barry's 355C.

In case some of you are wondering what we are talking about, Matt brakes so damn late that my bladder gets unsettled. Next time I am wearing some "Depends" when ridding with Mr. Hotshoe Karson.

Left foot braking in the carousel, swell I am still learning to break with my right foot. I finally narrow the gap down to 6 seconds and you have to extend it back to 8-10 seconds. That's it I am calling Maranello and flying Reubens in for some driving lessons (can't afford Schumacher at $58 million a season, but Reubens is a downright bargain). If he's busy I can always call up Burti or Badoer.

Seriously, though at some point your are going to just have to be happy at 2:04 or 2:02 or whatever, since you are getting into the realm where the risks are increasing (risk of meeting Mr. blue armco) and the gains are getting smaller. Just remember a dirty race car is OK, a bent up race car AIN'T!!!

See you at Summit!

Jon

Lost your brakes at 130 at the chicane Adam, Ain't that fun ? :-) Been there done that a few times, its the best place to lose your brakes as u have the whole chicane + the corner to slow down.
By the way by the end of Trackmasters I was flat out up the hill from turn 1 till the Chicane, Saw 160 mph at the chicane, Yahoo!!!!!

After each event, I feel stronger and stronger that the FCA Empire State region has the best run events going. They are safe, informative, and just great fun. Except for my loss of brakes at 130mph going into the bus stop (Kenny was in the car and turned white)it was a great weekend. I have to thank the guy's at Classic Coach for all of their help in getting me back on the road, they are the best. Paul, thanks for a fantastic ride in your 355 Ch car. Steve always good fun, and Matt thanks again for all of your hard work.

What a difference; sitting in front of my computer/driving on the track. Well, I got home late last night....
So many topics to touch on so I will take them one at a time.
Im VERY HAPPY with the way the event turned out. The FCA really finished the track season on a high note! We work hard to put together these events, and nothing makes me happier when it turns out like it did. The FCA is your club, and the fact that the event was awesome is due in large part to you. Easy going people who love their cars and like to make them scream...thats what its all about. No egos, agendas, or attitudes...JUST LOADS OF FUN!!
Jon, always great to hang with you at the track, you run a very nice line at the Glen. No more speed secrets for you. By the way, was your dry cleaner able to remove that stain from the seat of your racing suit?
William, running hard, learning the abilities of his new brakes. A true die hard enthusiast; drove with him the next two days as well.
Solly, really good to have some laughs with you, and I enjoyed that ride in your car..nice car control. Not to mention, nice car. Let me know if you like me to shake out that F40 you are thinking of getting. It will be a pleasure.
Paul, great to have you attend our event! Even though there was small damage, nothing that cant be taken care of. The smile on your face showed that you will be the first in line for the next event.
Kenny, very sorry that I was not able to get you into my car for a run. Next time, I promise.
Greg, the long ride was worth it, huh?
Rick, you have now used your get out of jail free card, next time, you and I get you out on the track with that BEAUTIFUL 355 you picked up!
Rob Lay, just so you know, FC was well represented this past weekend.
Now.......on Tuesday, I bought a half hour of time and had David Murray (a professional factory driver for Porsche as well as BMW) coach me. I have to tell you now....watch out!! Jon, you thought the braking was intense then....he has me taking it to an all new level.....trail braking through the first right and left of the chicane.....SICK!! Left foot braking in the carasole while under acceleration; SICK AGAIN!!!....and so much other crazy sh*t.....I think 2:04 should not be far off!! It will take me some time to be able to be consistent in what I learned, but at that point...all bets are off!!
Anyway, I had a great time with all you guys, and all the work was more than worth it.
This is only the start of more to come.
