Ralph, I had the same problem when trying to purchase a clean 348 Spyder! It is a shame so many people will not tell the truth about their cars, thus wasting travel time and money for others! I had the same problem w/ three cars in a row and finally gave up on the idea - bought a 328 GTS that needed some TLC -- I guess now whenever I get ready to sell I can tell a bunch of lies for the next buyer!! If there is any justice - one of the cars I tried to purchase has not sold and is $6000.00 less than the owner was willing to take 1 month ago!! sorry it didn't work out! Johnny |

Greetings: Sorry to take up space. Well the car had paint overspray in quite a few places on the car. I was told the car had never been repainted. There was some odd looking repair that had been done to the inside of the front bumper. Nice car though. It is just - Pay a little more and you can get a superb car. Thank You - Dikran at F of B.H. for not doing a compression check; if the car had anything odd about it. Those guys at F of B.H. in the service department were very helpful. They took down my name and # and tried to call some sources for a car while I was there. Well I got to see LA again. For a day. My free Southwest Airlines ticket was going to expire on 13 Sept 02. Well try again Ciao... Ralph |

ralph i own a 88.5 tr and love it check for: 1- dirty brake fluid, i didnt and after 1 month of owning the car, calipers stuck and needed a new master brake cylinder. 2- also a must...let them do a compression test, let the car be warm and #s should all be constant throughout every cylinder 165-175, if not and you get low #s like 120, 130, my advise, walk away from the car...there is a problem with the engine good luck, bruce |

Take a hard look at the wheels. You didn't say if it was early or late 88, but with either setup the 16" wheels are preferred. Like Dino said, check the seat belts - they are very expensive to fix. Also check the front spoiler for previous damage - they are VERY easy to damage. |

Thanks for the comments. I have been lurking around for a few months here. I have gone back in forth between the Boxer, TR, and 512TR. Can I have them all? decisions decisions. Maybe Vegas or the lottery could help with the decisions. Perhaps Fat Tony in the "Pizza Biz" can give me a loan? I have the FORZA TR buyers guide. I have read alot of posts on this car. I do not know everything "of course". I know the general items to look for. I have only heard good things about the drivetrain. The clutch does have some issues every few miles. I hope it works out. Ciao Ralph

Ralph: Make sure that you look for.... The condition of the fuse box and the connections. SERVICE RECORDS!!! Seat belts work. Condition of clutch. as well general look about. Those are the only problem areas that I have seen with my '87. Find a great one and you will have a blast. Good Luck. Ciao...Dino |
