You have to take into account many things (eg unhelmeted drivers, and passangers.) for a dual-purpouse street/track car. Weld-in is the only way to go for safety IMHO. Sparco (or 360 option) type seats and a 4-pt wouldn't be a bad idea once you have the bar either. Find a place that custom-fits bars into Ferraris. They can usually do it asthetically, some even cover the foam padding in leather ;D) Best! Ben. |

Frank: Good point, however; there are a number of roolbar options available, not all include columns running down the b-pillar and roof line; and most 4 points are physically away from driver and passenger, behind the seat for example, and provide enough support to save you in the event of a rollover, from spinal compression should you be using harnesses or not; as you should not use harnesses in ANY car not equipped with a harness bar or rollover prtection. Roll bars/cages should ALWAYS be padded, regardless of the amount of street or track use. Lastly, some insurance carriers may refuse cover on street cars that have aftermaket roll bars, be sure to check; don't want to be SOL and have your carrier deny a claim on account of 'illegal' components; this is true for some aftermarket brake upgrades, and ALL race tires. |

A roll bar in a street car is dangerous unless you plan to wear a helmet on the street. The contest between an unhelmeted head verses even a padded roll bar usually results in the unhelmeted head losing ! |

can you do both? bolt it in and then weld the mounting bracket base surround? William you may want to check with the racing organization you're dealing with and go through the rule book just to be on the safe side.(mmmk,no pun intended ) |

I think the weld in bars r much safer than the bolt in bars altho it may negatively affect the cars resale value. I dont ever intend to sell my Redhead |

William I'm thinking of adding one to my Dino GT4. I saw an add in Forza for a removable bolt in roll bar for the 355. I wonder if they make them for other models. I want to be able to take it out since I have back seats, you never know when I might have to put someone back there. (yeah right!) Anyone have one? |

Thinking of adding a weld in roll bar to my road 512TR so I can do testing days at tracks. They all require a roll bar & my race car wont be ready till January at the earliest. Besides at my speeds its a real good idea. So who has done a roll bar ? Bolt in or welded in ? Pics ? |
