I think the spider vs coupe is decided on what level of privacy you want. I have a coupe, and when the windows are down, I get asked all kinds of questions at stop lights. If this bothers you a spider would not be much fun, untill you got out of traffic.

I have driven both, and own a spider. Since I am an open air fan I am prejudiced. Almost (almost) no cowl shake on the spider, and it's a hair slower 0-60, although I have blown away a few coupes on the track, so performance is more a function of driver ability than any real difference between the cars. I have gone 100 mph with the top in place with no problems at all. As far as noise levels, if you want to carry on a conversation, buy a Mercedes. |

If you are going to take it to the track or drive it like you're on the track, get the coupe. Otherwise get the spider. I think the spider looks a lot better but If it were me, I'd get the coupe because it would certainly see some track time. I also hate the extra weight. That's why I have both, sorta. 1994 Ferrari 348 Spider & 2001 BMW M3 coupe (with lots of track miles) |

I have to disagree with Nick [just a wee bit ], there is some cowl shake with the Spider. It is, however, much improved over the 355. I would agree with Nick that the Spider is a magnificent car -- can't go wrong with either Modena or Spider. |

I have never driven a 360 coupe but own a 360 Spider. The car is very stable with no cowl shake. With the top up it is relatively quiet but doubt as quiet the coupe. With the top down you certainly hear the exhaust. I find it adds to the enjoyment of the car. I have driven my car at speeds of 140 mph with the top down and hardly knew I was at that speed. The steering is sharp and responsive. It has plenty of torque especially at speeds 70mph or more. If you are trying to decide between the coupe/Spider it should come down to whether you want a convertible. Both are magnificent cars. |

For those of you who have some behind-the-wheel experience in a 360 Spider, I have a few questions: 1) Does the car have any cowl shake whatsoever? 2) How is the car's top at high speed when the top is up? Is it stable? Any fluttering around? 3) How much more road noise do you get with a convertible top (when it is up) versus a regular coupe? 4) I know the Spider weighs some 300lbs more than the Coupe... does it feel like the Spider pulls as hard under acceleration? Many thanks for any input that may be available! |
