Roel,

The event is normally held every year somewhere on a track in Germany (mostly at the Ring or Hockenheim though!). Only last year there was a break since the annual Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring is also a huge Ferrari meeting here in Germany.
If you really want to see the Enzo Ferrari you could go to the Paris Motor Show next weekend! I have to admit that it is quite a trip just to see the car (It will not be driven there anywhere!).
As I told on another thread I was rather disapointed about the sound. When Schumacher did go flat out with it the sound was quite nice and agressive but every time he didnt give full throttle I considered the motor sound incredibly silent.
The Ferrari event season seems to be over for this year now since the weather gets worser from day to day!
Nevertheless I will keep you posted when I hear about anything which might be worth a travel from the Netherlands to Germany!!!

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. If you really want to visit the Paris Motor Show (I dont think its worth all the costs but on the other hand Paris is a very nice city!) shoot me a mail, perhaps I can get you Access cards for the Ferrari Stand which is always closed for the normal visitors.

Jens; Great to hear you had such a good time. And Oh my god to that move you pulled at the track, must've had your adrenaline level raise by about 500% I recon. Good to hear the car is fine!
couldnt believe you never went to the ring with your 348 before! You live so close to it! Maybe fun to go again some time see how much you can lower that time, on the other hand.. you might get hit by track fever, spending incredible amounts of money to mod your car to take 0.5 secs off your time. So watch out for that!
Ah youll be fine :-)

Again, you have no clue how unhappy I was that day.
and still, such a shame I didnt make it.
I was living up to that day for weeks in advance. Ah well. i'll cope.
Btw is this event held every year? Couldnt stand to wait for anything longer!

Hopefully someone will take his enzo there then, I want to see that car for real so much. And hear it afcourse. Was it loud ?

another thing, if there are any ferrari events in the future youre attending, or are worth visiting, keep letting me know! I cant get enough of em.

Greetings,
Roel

ps: enjoying some pictures of the event at the moment. looks great indeed

I can imagine the chaos as two dozen drivers tried to locate their cars. "Mine's the red F40 with the red interior. I know it's here somewhere..."

Damn, that is a long track.

William (looking in your direction) any plans for next year spring? :-)

9 min is really nothing to be ashamed of. Especially with streeet tires I assume.

Here in Palm Beach ;Moroso I see 120-130 on the back and front whereas William sees an easy 160-170Mph. Pretty much the same in a 355 Challenge.

This is every 2 years, right?

Looking at this site, they list various lap times for the Nordschleife and the new Nurburgring. The ones that caught my eye were these:

Wolfgang Kaufmann (D) Gemballa GTR Biturbo
2001-08-13, Rekordfahrt Sport Auto 20.832 km 165.728 km/h
7 min 32.520 sec

compared to:

Uwe Alzen(D) Michael Bartels(D) Porsche 993 GT3-R
2000-06-22, CHC Rundenrekord 20.832 km
169.289 km/h
7 min 23.000 sec

and:

Stefan Bellof (D) Porsche 956
1983-05-28, 1000km Rennen 20.832 km
202.073 km/h
6 min 11.130 sec

Wow!

I would say that 9 minutes around there is nothing to be ashamed of by any means (unless you're Herr Schumacher's team-mate)...

By the way: Saw three Ferraris (One 328 and two 355)on sunday in the Paddock area who had thrashed parts of their front bumpers on the Nordschleife the day before!
I was really, really lucky that day, I guess...

Martin,

The Nordschleife is actually 21 km long! The road record for street legal cars is held by a Pagani Zonda and lies around 7 minutes and 40 seconds! I was around 9 minutes with my 348. Since I am far off being a race driver I consider it as a time which is absolutely OK. You can do a time around 8 minutes with the car but I couldnt stand to perhaps just have a piece of red trash afterwards :-)
Its all about fun I guess and I can tell you I have a lot when driving there...

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. Fear I wouldnt have the slightest chance against William in his race 512TR or Countach :-)

Hello,

Have just returned from my trip to the Racing Days! Must say it was really awesome and terrific! Ansgars stats are absolutely right. There were about 1000 Ferraris in the Paddock area. I even saw two different 250 GTO. The one from Frederico Kroymans from the Netherlands even took part in the Races of the Ferrari Maserati Challenge and was damn fast.
Today Michael Schumacher presented the Maserati Trofeo, the new Enzo Ferrari and his F2002 in which he raced on the Grand Prix track. Even did some wheelis with his F1 car.
The Enzo Ferrari with Schumacher at the wheel was really very fast and accelerated nearly as good as the private F1 Ferrari owners with there private F1.
Even the weather was perfect and dry.
On the first day I did a round on the Nordschleife with the 348. I had only raced that track with my BMW Z3 before. The car behaved fantastic but around Schwedenkreuz I run up to a Porsche 911. I overtook him at the Fuchsrhre. That was the moment when I got a little bit too optimistic. Was too fast at that damn difficult Adenauer Forst chicane and made the mistake to lift the throttle in the turn. Wow, car came round darn fast and I was steering at the opposite direction to catch the tail. Managed to do that but then the car began to spin in the opposite direction. I couldnt correct that anymore and so we went over one curb and were sliddering on the gras. Happily I didnt touch any walls or trees (Should have known the danger since I already had spun out at Adenauer Forst before with my Z3).
After that rush of adrenalin we went on just to find out that at the Karusell and the Schwalbenschwanz the front bumber touched the concrete. Afterwards I found out that just the road signs scraped the track and there was absolutely no damage done to my newly painted front bumber.
Nevertheless I did my fastest lap on the Nordschleife and was somewhere around 9 minutes.
My friend who was my copilot had never ever driven a car on any track. He didnt say a word on the round. Afterwards he told me that he had never ever sweated so much in his whole life. He liked it nevertheless.
So I was lucky two times in one lap! What a day!!!
Today we drove home from the Nürburgring to Bonn via the Ahrtal which is a very nice vine valley. The sun was shining it, was warm and behind me was the sound of that wonderful engine roaring. Now my baby is save again in the garage. Tomorrow I will wash it thorougly!
Man, I love my Ferrari!!!

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. Roel, Indeed I have to tell you that you really missed a great event (and one lap with my at the Nordschleife in the 348 :-) )

I arrived at 2:00am at Schiphol Airport last night, coming back from vacation. The plan was to get a few hours of sleep, and then leave early again to the nurburgring, a 4 hour drive from where I live.
How unpleasantly suprised I was when I heard my car was at the garage, and my sister managed to total my mom's car, leaving me without a form of transportation to the ferrari days.

I am now sitting here wondering what the Enzo will be sounding like racing the northschleife.
I can't say I'm in a good mood. WHY am I missing out on this.

Funny how on vacation I was buying these car magazines with Enzo coverage, living up to this day. Couldn't wait. Now it ends like this. Pitty.
I just hope I'll get another chance to see this car live somewhere, sometime. Just feel like saying D*MN*T right now.

Ok enough whining on my behalf.

Anyway Ansgar, Hope you have a great time. I see there were 2 288 GTO's ...*nice* And post some of those pics will ya? Or the link atleast.
