Just wanted to share with you...

On August 24th Auto Connections Inc, my small dealership in Bellevue,WA. sponsored an event called Cars For Kids. The event was to help raise awareness and funds for Youth Eastside Services (YES), a non-profit agency that works with kids struggling with todays issues by providing no/low cost counseling.

Money was raised as people driving by stopped and paid to have their cars washed by some of the kids and volunteers from YES. But the highlight of the day was the mini Ferrari car show, held to attract the attention of those passing by. On display were 5 different models; a 1953 375MM Spider, a 1961 250 Testa Rossa replica, two 308s (one Red and one Blue) and a Black 2001 360 Modena. Participants could have their pictures taken in any of the cars and rides were offered in the 308s and the 360 for a small donation. The crowd even caught the eye of a Red TR owner, who stopped in and took advantage of the car wash!

The 1953 375MM was one of three Vignale bodied spiders. It was a factory racecar originally driven by Ascari to win the Nurburgring 1000KKm. Chinetti and DePortago ran it in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana (dnf, also DePortago's first ride in a racecar). Its glory moment was the 1954 Carrera, with Phil Hill as the driver. He finished a close second to Maglioli in the factour 375 Plus. The car was restored to the condition & livery from that event. The 1961 replica 250 Testa Rossa (TR 61) was built by Mark Gerisch of Two Rivers WI. There are only two real ones, which are owned by Peter Sachs and Ralph Lauren respectively.

A huge thanks to Pacific North West Ferrari Club members Bruce McCaw, Thor Thorsen, Lem Charleston, and Willis Huang for helping to support the event.
