My car does not show true mileage. I'd be driving and the speedo needle is still pointing at 0. Faulty sending unit, which is mounted on the transmission covered in thick oily goo (at least on my car). Took it off and cleaned it, works everytime now right from start. |

The first Ferrari I looked at was a '84 308 that showed 17k miles. The car looked OK on carfax, but most the info on carfax was inspections and that has only been done the past several years. The first thing that made me suspicious was the worn tires. Even if original, those hard tires shouldn't of been worn. My BMW eats Z rate tires every 10k, but the Ferrari tires weren't Z on this one. The next thing was that the car blew an engine. It's possible, but most Ferrari aren't at this risk unless they have many miles and haven't been cared for. From a very reliable and experienced source I heard an estimate that maybe around 50% of Ferraris show wrong miles. For most of the 1980 and earlier Ferraris it's as simple as 1 wire pull. People will disagree and I'm just justifying my 46k mile car, but I feel more comfortable with a car that was being used 3k miles a year or so. A 6k mile car either 1) Shows the wrong miles. 2) Sat around a lot. 3) Probably costs more. There are exceptions and the more I learn the more I learn I don't know anything. |

Before I bought my car, I subscribed to CARFAX (www.carfax.com). It will allow you to trace histor/mileage on most vehicles. Records also help, both FNA and other repair shops. |

I would like to know how we could verify the correct mileage on 328's. if you find a very low mileage ( ex: 86 with 6K miles) on a 328 what are the thing you need to look for other than interior & exterior ( seats, paint etc) conditions |
