Do the math and its cheaper to ship the car home to your mechanic. |

best is to use this list to find a good mech close to where the car is. I would fly one in as a last resort - you have to pay for air, time in flight, hotel, shop lease etc etc. End of the day a mech won't be a comfortable as he is in his own shop. If you are taking about looking at GTOs and the like then maybe it is worth it otherwise find a local guy |

Recently had a deal fall through because the PPI revealed that it was not as advertised. Terry in Phoenix (great guy and great source of information)mentioned that some people flew a trusted mechanic to inspect a potential purchase. This seems like a good idea. I would like a non-dealer mechanic, great Ferrari knowledge and experience, and who has no benifit if the sale is made or not. Trusted local mechanic who meets the above might be best, but if that is not readily available, then flying in a trusted one might be the next best thing. This also gives a backup in case a Ferrari breaks down in the middle of nowhere and nowhere. Has anyone done this and what has been the experience? Would like to put together a list of 2 or 3 mechanics (in case one is not available) who would be willing to do this. Any recommendations and any mechanics out there interested? |
