michael you are correct ..i live in paris and every year i travel down to Monaco during the summer and its around 960 kms.. and paris to rome is about 1500 kms

Chris , i would also suggest that you only visit Italy and la Cote D'azur ( Rome , Modena , MAranello, Firenze , Nice , Monaco , Cannes ..) .

Anyway im sure you will have the time of your life :-)

Martin is correct. I have done that drive and its definitely 1000 miles. If my memory serves me correct, Monaco to Paris is around 600 and another 400 to Rome.

Give you an idea. We did the following trip last year August:

Munich to Prague then Budapest and after Salzburg. All pretty much travelled on the Autobahn. Oh year and from Salzburg back to Munich, ops almost forgot, that was a total of 2300 KM. Brutal! 10 days.

Jay 700 Miles from Rome to Paris? It is 1000 KM (600 Miles) from Monaco to Frankfurt. Rome is south of Monaco and Paris is west of Frankfurt. 700 just does not come close if you ask me. More like 1000 Miles, especially if you get of the Autobahn and drive through the COuntry.

I got the Rschenberg thing as well...how funny. I thought it was pretty much par with what i would expect.

Now talking about from Rome to Germany and over to Paris....in one week? Your new wife will get hemroids from sitting in the car.

Do Italy only or Italy and Switzerland, or Italy and the COte D'Azur. to Cannes maybe St. Tropez but Germany and Paris, you will be driving way too much.
I had to drive Frankfurt to Monaco several times. It is brutal. Did it once at 6 1/2 hours in a 911 Turbo trying to surprise my wife.

Shorten the trip.
Maybe just take the F-Car for a few days through Italy or the COte D'Azur.

Thanks to all for your feedback. A special thanks for Jay for what seems like an exact precurser to my journey next year. It only reenforces my spastic reaction to going!

I rented a Ferrari 360 Modena from Scuderia von Ruschenberg for two weeks during September of last year. I picked the car up in Munich, and toured Austria, Switzerland, Italy (down to Maranello) and Bavaria. I found the company's service to be impeccable, and the car was perfect. It only had a few thousand kilometers on the odometer when they delivered it to me, so hmmmmmm, a brand new Ferrari 360, the Autobahn with no speed limit, the winding roads through the Alps....... A dream come true!

Anyway, just wanted to report that I had a very positive experience with this rental, and as such would recommend it to you. Also, keep in mind that touring countries in Europe is like touring States in the US... everything is pretty close. So I drove through all these countries and still did not exceed the allotted miles that came with the rental. Seven hundred miles in Europe will get you from Rome to Paris, no problem, and you'll still have some to spare.

Hope this helps.

Chris, Here is something I just recv'd in the mail today from Scuderia von Ruschenberg----European Ferrari Rental----A 348 Syder would cost you almost 3500 a week which includes 1400kms. $2.00 per kmn extra-----very expensive-----and you pay the gas and need 3000 deposit. Only 700 miles a week is not that much to tour a few counties (or even one)----FYI A Diablo is about $7000 for a weeek----Let me know if you need any further info

Chris,
As far as your travelling, you will probably want to either a)travel less, or b) stay longer. I went for 2 weeks, and did S. Germany, Austria & Switzerland. There's just so much to see, you hate having to rush. You can always go back, don't forget. The alpine roads were fun in a VW--can't imagine in a Ferrari!

Chris, someone on this site rented a 360 for quite a few days and was very pleased with the experience. I'll try to find the post. I believe the company he rented through has 348's available.

Hello, everyone. Just found your board a few days ago and really like it. Just in time too, as I am just beginning my Ferrari adventure.

After about 6 years of engagement, me and my Fiance will probably take the plunge the summer of 2003. Our relationship is just the best; we just hadn't gotten around to doing the official marriage thing. Anyhow, I began talking about our eventual honeymoon, and the thought of going to Italy, picking up a 348 Spyder (not sure if I should buy one or rent one) for a week. At this point, I am thinking:
* Arrive in Italy, perhaps Rome;
* Pick up a beautiful red Ferrari 348 Spyder;
* If time, see Maranello;
* Work way up through Germany/Austria;
* Work way West to France;
* End up in Paris;
* Total trip: 1 week, 2 days (the 2 days allotted for air travel);

I am so excited, I just can't stand it! The thought of me and her cruising around Europe in this car has my pulse racing. What a great way to start "the rest of our lives", eh?

* Any particular rental places (and web sites, if you have them) that I should consider?
* Do you think a good trip can be had in 1 week's worth of cruising the above-mentioned route?
Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance! I hope to eventually join this board as a member!

Chris.
