My view of that was two cars behind the GTO!!! ^_^ I was in a fellow Ferrari lister's 309 gtsi and we were being somewhat held up by a 348 who was really getting under the 308 drivers skin. I think it was more of a track experience thing than a personal thing though. Anyway, seeing that GTO out there along with some of the other vintage cars was something that made my heart feel good. It nearly kills me to see some of those machines just sitting, not to be driven but one or two times the whole time someone is privileged enough to own them. AND the sounds!!! That s/n 0666 TR sounded great!!! I'll also never forget the sounds of the 250 LM and the F50 Gt1 (chassis #001). GREATNESS!!!

I was also lucky enough to get a very "on the edge of my seat" ride with one of the instructors in his 360. It would take me quite a while to get up to that level of driving and confidence...because it was definitely something else.

Meeting Scaglietti and Phil Hill was a highlight as well. Hopefully next time we can all put faces to names if we're ever in the same place at the same time again.

I guess you could say it was a million dollar view...(or multimillion..)

Oh, there was also a 20 minute session where you could take people for rides around the track. I took Jennie, Jerry's wife, Jerry, and Ron for a lap around. Jennie got back in after Ron and about 2 laps into it and what do I see coming hot on my tail, but a 250 GTO. Nothing like looking in the rearview mirror and seeing a 250 GTO tailgating you by any standard but on a race track.

A blast yet again.

Big news, seeing the F1 2000 run was just a nasty rumor. They packed it to head off north of the border for next weeks race before lunch.

I ran all 3 of my sessions and enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn't go faster than my 1:38 of yesterday, but I was more consistent by doing most of my laps at 1:39 or 1:40. To compare, the fastest car on the track was a 360 Modena Challenge which was going fast as 1:23. It was really much ahead of anyone else. There was a small pack of a 355 Challenge, 288 GTO, and more 360s that were doing around 1:30.

The last session I decided to let an instructor in my car for the first time all week. He really helped me with my lines and laps, but then I let him take a few laps on his own. Ouch, he had been driving 355s all day and about put us off the track several times in only 2 laps. Anyway, he did teach me a lot.

The banquet tonight was ok, but not as exciting as the track. Actually, I've about decided I'm more the track guy than these ear swab cleaning concours types.

I'm opting out the 3rd track day in order to do an autocross to maintain my class points lead. Who in their right mind would drop the opp to drive a Ferrari on a track for a dumb autocross in a 120k mile BMW.

Pictures should be out next week sometime.
