martin - are you sure that applies for all 355s? i was under the impression that the earlier cars didn't have a clear coat, but that the later ones did. i also believe the glasurit/ppg paint switch happened near the end of 355 production, which could possibly be the switchover (?). doody. |

355s never have a clear coat. Neither does the 348. The clear coat is built into the paint and yes you do take off the paint when you buff the car.

It is rather dangerous to polish out scratches yourself. Have a professional do it. With paint that is not clearcoated you will get some color on your cloth when waxing. This is normal. If you have a car that has some panels clearcoated and some panels not (called single-stage) then you have had some panels repainted my friend! As far as I know Ferrari has never produced a vehicle that had some one way and some the other on the same car. I don't think it is bad if you change over to basecoat/clearcoat when repainting some panels, just something you should be aware of. |

Got a little red on my towels at first but dont use the 3m all the time buy a good poilish and then seal it up. Mine stays beautiful and is always easy to clean, the other day the guy next door said, " So, when are you gonna dry that thing". I keep it looking great. |

I have a red 95 F355 and some panels-- the hood are clear coated but most are not. Look at your paint code on the rear deck. If it has a "C" after the paint number then it is clear coated mine is not clear coated. I get alittle red on my cloth, this won't hurt with Hand Glaze--you're removing so little paint. |

Hmm, I am not sure but usually this will only happen when your car does not have a clear coat, maybe it has been worn in some places? It only happens with abrasive products. |

I have tons of hairline scratches/swirls (maybe from drying with a towel) that the 3M isn't getting out....looks like i'm going to have it professionally done. |

Mine did that too when I 1st gave it a good paint cleansing. After that you should only have to put on a good carnuba/sealer, etc. that will not lift any paint whatsoever....how's the car look now? |
