William,
there is more.
Not all of them frequent the chat though but lots of them read and not post. Charlie S, PaulB, my friend Hartmut G who is in Germany now.
Then there was Mr. Goodman who was in the process of selling his 328

William,
lets meet at the Italian Image on Sunday for the Indy GP. Big part. I will introduce you to some other cool F-Owners. Also there is the Palm beach Dinner this Thursday. I am thinking of going as long as the weather holds up. That friggin Hurricane! There is dark clouds on the horizon as I am typing this.

some trucks have mult compartments while others don't. most newer c-stores have blenders at the pump to create the 5 grades of gas from the 87 and 93 octane mentioned. THis is cheaper than having 5 10,000 gallon tanks installed. Also, a 7 compartment truck obviously can't hold as much of a single grade of gas so can't service a large storage tank as well. A typical 7-11 sells bout 60K gallons a month whereas a RaceTrac or QT sells from 250K to 500K gallons with mult deliveries per day.

Also, it is all basically the same gas from teh same refineries and then branded Texaco, Exxon, citgo etc. Some add additives and detergents and other special things, but gas from the rack is all the same. major oil companies have struggled with brand value for years and what it is worth. Used to the Texaco credit card was enough to keep customers coming back and paying more, but now iwth pay at pump and low prices it is hard to justify 10 cent higher gas. Typically the majors make about 10 to 13 cents per gallon whereas the RaceTrac types make about 2 or 3 cents over cost. Volume is how they "make money"

The supermarkets are killing the c-stores in gas now. They can afford to almost give away their gas with discount cards because the gas is a loss leader and as a % of their total budget it can be considered advertising where a c-store needs it to survive. The grocery chains are laughing because when c-stores began selling the grocery stores' 100 most popular items they didn't like it, but now the tables have turned.....

Enough with Gasoline 101.

Uh......actually, the trucks are divided in two because they deliver two grades of gasoline. Those would be 87 octane and 91. The way they get 89, is by mixxing 87 and 91. After I got out of high school I worked at a gas station for some time. I noticed that the truck driver was only putting in two kinds of gas in the tanks and asked why. The answer he gave was what I just stated. Oh yeah, another bit of info. You may have noticed that the gas is colored. Well I asked as to why, and the reason is so that the driver doesn't put the wrong fuel in the wrong tank. There is a small glass window on the contector, that is attached to the hose. If I remeber correct, 87 was green and 91 (92 then) was a red color.

I use to be undecided, but now I'm not sure.

ExoticCar.com was started by Monty Bates and I believe most of the users were 308 owners that exchanged technical info. I have talked with Monty before and when he was having technical problems with his board and brought it down, per his request I put the old archives on FerrariChat.com, which you can still find today under "Research". Besides that, ExpensiveCar.com and FerrariChat.com having nothing to do with each other. The first users of FerrariChat.com were the old users of ExpensiveCar.com (Ed, Peter, Bret, Magoo, Ben, and others). However, my goal from day one of this board was a diverse community, as long as you're passionate about Ferrari. Each person takes from and gives to FerrariChat.com what they want.

Does it mean that you want to know the exact location at this moment of every Ferrari owner in the City limits of Miami?

I have to admit - I did read it like ED - :-). That said while there exists classes of ferrari owners it is no diff than classes in life. As far as this site goes I would say we have a very diverse group of people from the least expensive to the most expensive f-cars and it does not really have anything to do with whether one services their car themselves.

OK, for you blondes out there. The question is, There are lots of Ferraris in Miami but only two of the Ferrari owners are on this chat site. Where is everyone else, meaning to me, why are the other owners not on this site. Now this is where it gets simple. I reply by stating that the reason that they are not here is because they do not need or want to be here for various reasons stated in my response. By the way, I do not drink. I do not think that William was asking for the exact physical location of all other Ferrari owners, but which sites if any, other than FerrariChat that they frequent and why. Perhaps there is a problem with different interpretations of the question.

Hi, now that we got talking about this -- is it possible to do all maintenance work on a 355? I'm planning to get this car in a few years and I really want to do all the work myself. Possible or not?

Thanks,

/Dan

Ed, forgive my apparent obtuseness, but what on Earth does that have to do with Bill's question regarding Ferraris in Miami????

Keep in mind that this was all started for primarily 308 owners that wanted to maintain and repair their cars themselves. If I owned a newer Ferrari and could afford someone else to look after it I would probably not be here either. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, the Ferrari Tifosi is seperated into classes. It is up to the individual to figure what class they are in and/or want to be in or qualify for.
