Good luck trying to find a 8000k DOT approved hid system. Can't tell the brightness difference between a 6000k and 8000k when I compared them both, only a bullshit price difference, not worth it. Almost all HID conversion kits are not street legal except for some that Sylvannia makes, Hella makes some also but not sure if they are DOT. These systems must come with the correct lens housing due to the HID bulbs are longer in length and brighter.

lol Rob, very subtle :-)

As far as I know, there are D2S 5300K (philips OE, DOT approved) and 6000K HID (also Philips, etc made, but NOT DOT approved) lamps.

The '8000K' HID lamps that I am familiar with, are a 5300K or 6000k bulb *painted blue*

Are these different? I'm always currious to stay on the leading edge of technology.

PS: please do not confuse ANY of the real High Intensity Discharge lights above with anything that has a filiment. These are all evacuated xenon/salt filled chambers with ~35kv acring across to create light.

Not fakeies :-)

Best!
Ben.

I've installed about a year ago, a couple of Piaa Plasma Blue H4 bulbs in my 328. They are really awesome. I think they are the best bulbs in the world. Better than this, just real xenon HID kits. But very expensive. I've tried before of the Piaas some bulbs (all of them said in their cases "xenon gas" "Hid look") but they didn't work.

Rob, you need to get out of technology and into sales.

I have HIDs in my 308 but I am not sure what model they are. It did require extra relays, and large boxes that go inside the car. I am not sure if they are Ballast res. or ?.

No, but I've upgraded my 308/QV from the original sealed beams to Xenon H4's via a 7" 6024 conversion kit from Kyoto USA, and that makes a BIG difference.
