I too have a 2" sticker on the back of my Nissan daily driver..
It is there to keep me focus on my dream of Ferrari ownership..Everytime I see that sticker I changes my mood after a long day (bad day)..I know I need to work that much harder to get my dream..
Everyone wears that badge for different reasons..

I'm gonna go get a "Stuckey's" bumper sticker to show my respect since they have great pecan pies. Then, I am going to put a Mercedes sticker on my Hundai (I really don't own a Hundai - This is for illistrational purposes only, but perhaps I could also get a Hundai sticker.)

BTW, Terry, I have HUGE respect for folks that work hard and strive for their dreams!! I am not into sports at all, my idols are business people who have made fortunes despite diversity and coming from nothing!!!

Martin, LOL, more places than just Aventura!!!

Do whatever you want. Put the stickers on your forehead if you desire. It's just my opinion.

Well, maybe it's because I don't yet have a Ferrari to call my own either, but I'm also with Terry on the ownership requirement.

To me, it's just like having a Cowboys bumper sticker (only a lot more classy :-) Showing enthusiasm and support for the greatest race team, and automaker, in the world!

I can see the other side of the coin though, but it really is kind of an 'inside' thing (completely different from putting a BMW emblem on your honda, I swear! :D)

Hey, maybe ownership is required for anything that actually SAYS 'ferrari' on another car?

The plain S/F shield I like, because it is so subtle, yet, to fellow enthusiasts, is like a high-five on the highway!

Best!
Ben.

Fred,
Just a differing of interpretation. I don't think that a S/F Shield is in anyway a statement of what I own, but much more of where my passion lies. In the same way a "Broncos" helmet sticker is not a statement that the owner of the car is an actual professional football player. Maybe the person with the piece of #$^* is more like minded than the person that actually owns a Ferrari. Maybe the person actually appreciates, loves, and strives to own a Ferrari. The people you discribed that have to have the best car, homes, and no furniture and living paycheck to paycheck maybe posers and don't deserve your respect, but the person making a meger living and waking up at 4am to catch the belgium GP to route on Schumi and is saving every penny to someday own a 308GT4 all the while driving a clunker with a S/F shield is worthy of respect. Just my opinion.

If any of you has travelled in Italy (as I do every year) you will know that the S/F shield comes with your ownership. As soon as you get your FIAT or scooter, just stick it on (front for scooters and rear for FIATs etc.)I swear one in 10 cars on the road has one and probably 25% of all the scooters. btw i was thinking of getting a bumper sticker for my mondial that says "my other car is a Ferrari too"

Terry, Let me put it into perspective.

Living in South Florida, we have way to many posers. I think it's funny the way most people's priorities are so f**ked up (ie, Drive expensive cars & big houses with no furniture, no savings and living paycheck to paycheck).

I look at the shields as a subtle way of saying "My other car is a Ferrari". If someone's other car is a piece of s**t, assuming that they even have another car, why bother with it.

I understand the appreciation for the race team. I appreciate a good glass of wine, but I don't need to put the label on my car.

Just my opinion.

I think it is funny that Fred would require ownership as a qualifier to proudly display the scuderia Shield, when I have seen many threads where many owners do not know the origin or the meaning behind the shield. I see the shield as being a support of the race team, kind of like having a dallas cowboys sticker. It could also mean you have great respect for the car and history, or you are an owner. But I have met many owners that don't know much about the history or care whether they win a race or not and just like the looks of the shield. Maybe I am just reacting this way because I do have a shield on my Isuzu and I don't own a Ferrari. The only sticker I would ever put on my car is a S/F Shield, because I want to show support of the greatest race team in history. I like Ben's statement "I personally like them, I think it's a great way to show support and enthusiasm for the marque. Like wearing a Ferrari shirt. I immediately knew the guy driving the BMW would be a 'kindered spirit' as it were"

When I was test driving a 355 in Central London, I was passed by a Diablo, which had 4 SF badges on the doors, each with a line through , like a WWII fighter pilot. bad sentiment but funny nonetheless!

I found a small SF shield that also says Ferrari on it, and stuck it on the number plate on my 4x4.

It can be easily removed without damaging the vehicle in case I want to sell the vehicle in the future and the new owner does not want to display a Ferrari sticker/shield.

The only thing that concerns me is negative attention if vandals know that you are an F car owner.

Perhaps in the past but it is now his Dave. He was very happy to describe it as a recent purchase during FCANW event at the J&L Fabrication tour this spring.

Same here! I have one S/F sticker along with a SCCA Pro Racing sticker on the back windshield of my Chevy Silverado 2500 HD tow vehicle. I don't like much clutter in the way of bumper stickers so two is the limit.

I'm the same way of not wanting to place a "Ferrari" emblem on the car, but rather a "SF" shield. Those who recognize it will know. I also wonder what % recognize the symbol. I did have a gentleman with a Suburban with Porsche racing stickers look over and give thumbs up.

Actually, JMG, that Villeneuve car is NOT Mr. Griot's. Careful reading of his catalogues that feature it reveal that it belongs to one of his customers...

I want to put the smallest S/F stickers I can find, probably 2" and I don't want them to say Ferrari on them. The people that need to know, will know. The little FCA or FOC stickers are also good ways to say're you're part of the community.

I have the small 2" S/F sticker on the back glass of my Sequoia. I've often wondered what percentage of the general public knows what the S/F shield is on the back of my non-F-car.... maybe 5%????

Ben
I agree my daily driver a Volvo wagon has a S/F shield on the bumper. Ive recieved a few comments allready in the short time its been in place. FWIW i took these shields off my Mondial that the previous owner had put on either side of the license plate which was a bit much for my likes.

Richard Griot has one on his Ford truck...but then again, he has Villeneuve's F1 car to tow around so I guess it is ok!

I saw a black BMW 750iL the other month, it had an S/F fender badge...

I was wondering what F-chatters thought of the S/F emblems on other cars, your ferrari's tow vehicle, etc?

I personally like them, I think it's a great way to show support and enthusiasm for the marque. Like wearing a Ferrari shirt. I immediately knew the guy driving the BMW would be a 'kindered spirit' as it were :-)

Best!
Ben.
