I'd a hunch this wasn't the first time an F-1 result was accomplished in this manner, Nika. Also thought it was a decent gesture on Schuey's behalf (if it was, in fact, intended) to even the score, so to speak. That said, it could be argued that racing is fake when the faster racer permits the slower racer to overtake and win. Perhaps this is why Michael felt he may have "owed" Rubens one? Regardless, while not something I'll be losing a ton of sleep over, it's fairly easy to see why more than a handful of fans (rookies, I guess) voiced their displeasure at show's end.

Nika, I did the same thing when Vic Reuter said that. He wouldn't stop bringing up that Americans wouldn't like it. I thought it was a pleasant surprise, even though I don't think it was planed. BTW Nika, are you going to the Ralley on Oct 6th?

Tenney - if a fan or two was bummed they haven't been around the sport long.........It's been done between TEAMMATES for as long as I can remember. WWF is fake - F1 is racing BIG difference. I heard one announcer say "controversial" and I just had to laughed - nothing controversial about it.

I don't think that MS actually 'planned' that result; the look on his face during the post race press confernce was pretty telling. None the less, b/w the team, it's all the same, both championships are secured -# 1 driver and constructor-. Regardless, I found this GP to be one of the more exciting races to date; lots of traffic, dogfights throughout the grid, attrition, etc. Who said F1's boring?

I think it says something about Ferrari's domination when they have to keep themselves amused by trying to finish in a tie. They didn't screw up, Schumacher let him go by returning the favor from Austria. I don't think Rubens or even the team knew he was going to do it though and I think that Rubens was very surprised which is why he was a little out of it when they got in the interview, he didn't really know what to say. These guys are absolutely amazing at driving, I mean they'll run a lap and then on the next one be off by like 20 thousandths of the lap they just did, talk about being good.
I think it was good, I like Rubens a lot and at least it gave it an interesting ending because it was a boring race excluding the Williams incident. I think it was also nice to see that Schumacher may in fact not be part of the gestapo and actually has a conscience. Also remember they are now going to be sealing up Rubens as second in the championship race for a Ferrari 1-2 overall.
Now they're even though so I wouldn't want to see this "strategy" again if it was in fact team orders.

Seemed a fan or two was a bit bummed, but the last thing I want to do is slam the purists' POV. Although if it's cool to alter stuff, maybe Bernie and Co.'d "orchestrate" a pass or two during the show for entertainment purposes. At least The Rock and Goldberg try to make the "fight" interesting.

Maybe, but did see Schumacher's mug during the interview with Ruben. That said it all. My guess is oops ,that wasn't supposed to have happened.

Nice result. Won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. Though it was likely spoiled for some of those who did.
