I love the thrill of my 308 GTS 78'. It took me quite a while to find the right one. I had wanted one since I was 10 yrs. old and now 21 I reached my goal of obtaining one. I wanted a Carbed 308 but had trouble finding one and saw QV's, which are great but I really wanted the Carb sound and I like to tinker with them. Well, when I found my 308 it was magic. I had to put some work into it but it was well worth it. I try to drive it as much as I can and occasionally drive it to college but I must leave extra earlier to get a end space. I truly enjoy the sound of the engine when it hits its power range. Also when I first start it up in the morning and the carbs cough. Owning and maintaining a Ferrari is a true passion and one I enjoy greatly.

Yes, even the horns sound cool! None of this domestic buzzer sounds, a trumpet announcing the arrival of something special...the Ferrari! Make way!

By the way I like the 8 prancing horses it the
#1 hit line. I couldn't agree more.

I love winding the car out on the ramp getting
on the highway. I wind it right up to 7700 rpms
thru 1,2,3 and 4th if the road is clear. It sounds
great! Also when ever I go under a bridge I down
shift and the echo sound is even better. I have yet to drive the car without someone asking about
it or making a comment. The other day I was driving behind an SUV and there was a young kid 14
of 15 in the back. He looked out the window and I
could see him say "Oh my god!" and tell the other
people in the car and they turned and looked. When ever I was young and saw a Ferrari I always wished they would get on it so I got on it and flew past them. One more stupid thing. Sometimes I find myself honking the horn just for the hell of it.

Heh Heh. I love your stories. Makes my hair stand.
I like driving my car in the late evenings. On a cool dry night just listening to the engine. Aaahh!

THIS I CAN RELATE TO. I WORK VERY HARD AS OWNER OF A 3YR YOUNG MORTGAGE CO. IN THE PANHANDLE OF FLORIDA. I GET LITTLE TIME OFF AND FEW VACATIONS HOWEVER FEE FEE (I'M NOT ASHAMED TO BROADCAST HER NAME) IS MY "MINIVACATION". I LOVE HER AND ON SUNDAYS, SATURDAYS TOO IF REALLY LUCKY, I FIRE HER ENGINE UP AND LISTEN TO HER DULCET TUNES AS SHE SLOWLY WARMS UP WHILE I POUR MY COFFEE/. WHEN THE HOUSE CEASES TO VIBRATE I KNOW ITS TIME TO GO TO THE GARAGE AND SLIP INTO THE DRIVER SEAT.

THE ROAD I LOVE THE MOST IS A 20 MILE STRETCH OF HAIRPIN BENDS BETWEEN NAVARRE AMJD PENSACOLA BEACH. ON MY LEFT IS THE NATIONAL SEASHORE WHICH IS COMPOSED OF SUGAR WHITE BEACHES AND EMERALD GREEN SEAS AND TO MY RIGHT IS THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY WITH SAILBOATS AND BARGES.; I AM TRU;LY BLESSED. PEOPLE COME FROM MILES TO GET WED HERE AND I GET TO DRIVE FEE FEE !!

I THINK MY FEELINGS OF FREEDOM WHEN DRIVING A FINE AUTOMOBILE STARTED IN ENGLAND WHERE I WAS BORN AND RAISED.; AT 15 YRS 0OLD I FIXED UP TRIUMPHS - SPITFIRES, TR 6S AND TR 4S, MGBS ETC. THE FEELING IS THE SAME NO MATTER WHETHER ITS A FERRARI OR A TRIUMPH, MUSTANG OR MAZZERATI, IF THE CAR PURRS IT PUTS N A SMILE ON MY FACE

Every Sunday morning I tiptoe out of the room so my wife can sleep in. I go to the garage, roll up the door and enjoy the morning sun hitting the curves of my 308 and igniting a bright glow on the rear fender line. I fire her up and let her warm up. This is a carburatted version and the popping and hissing of the Webbers adds to the charm . Its usually very quiet at that time on a Sunday except for the occasional Harley.Once I ran into a little old man driving a glorious steel blue Modena. I work through the gears going into the Palmetto expressway, and exit three miles later at this delightful ramp which has a long straight with a mild bend to the right , a much sharper turn to the left and then another sharp right. Sometimes Ima lucky and there is no traffic and I can search for the perfect line and downshift points. If I'm very lucky I run into a worthy companion like a 911 or a Bimmer. The best was when I went into it with a Pantera; the sound of the booming 351 and the backfiring three liter downshifting brought back memories of the Ferrari-Ford duels I saw as teenager at Daytona and Sebring. I am very fortunate to live in Miami where I can enjoy my car all year. I have owned and enjoyed sailboats and powerboats. I have owned 5 Porsches, 4 BMWs and assorted Alfas, Healeys and z 28s. Nothing, absolutely nothing compares to the joy per dollar that a Ferrari gives.

The best part of my car is the sound! I have an old Blaupunkt with a jammed tape deck and only one working speaker...who cares! I took a road where it snaked beside a steep hill, the driver's side was a retaining wall keeping the hill up. 2nd gear and about 6500 RPM with a Borla exhaust made a wail bouncing off the wall that sent shivers down my spine. I got to the top, made a U-turn and did the hill again!
I have a video tape with my dad in the passenger's seat filming a short drive, with me going through the gears. Now that my car is in the garage, I miss it and play that video tape over and over...

Sometimes it's unresistable. About a week after I bought my '85 308QV I was late to school. My school starts at 7:45 and it was nearing that time and I hadn't left yet. So, as to avoid a detention (compliments of the totalitarian dictatorship my principal thinks he's got going) I got a tardy note from my dad. Since I go to school where my mom's house is and I was at my dad's that night I had to take the highway. Low and behold I realized that my father had failed to put a time on the note. Sitting there in traffic I felt like Ferris Bueller. It was a beautiful day, I had a note with no time on it, and I had a red Ferrari with the top off I might add. Once that traffic cleared I proceeded to spend the next four hours accelerating and braking all of my favorite roads, making my way into the boonies of New Jersey to hit those deserted areas where the only limits are those of you and your car. Surprisingly enough I actually encountered anonther Ferrari doing the same as me, a Azzurro blue 355 Spider. Although I had to cut my ride short at about lunch time to finally go to school, I must say it was some of the most fun I've ever had. But shhhh, don't tell my dad.

Driving to work yesterday... I went out to the garage and uncovered her. Rossa Corsa shinning in the early morning sun. Sat in and started her up for the usual warm up. She starts off cold about 1000 rpm and then slowly wakes up. I go back inside to finish getting ready. In about 5 minutes the auto choke has her up about 2500 RPM's. The house is vibrating. I go outside, get in the car and make sure the driving mirrors are all set. No radio needed. 8 prancing horses is the a #1 hit. Commuting in Dallas with the 328 has been better than I thought. On the days I drive the Ferrari I leave about 9am and the traffic has thinned a little bit. 635 and 35 will have some stop and go traffic, but the combination of periodic half mile openings and 4 lanes of traffic to cautiously weave through makes for a great 13 mile road course to work. Passing a car and then accelerating up 2nd... 3rd... 4th with the horses wailing. Wow. A great way to start the day. Close to where I work is some great side streets with hills and curvy roads. For the people around Dallas, I'm talking about Las Colinas. A usual 20 minute commute home takes 45 minutes in the Ferrari. I have my own little side streets that I hit. Enjoying every acceleration, braking, and G pulled... no radio needed.
