I'm quite embarrassed to say what failed, but what has held up well - oddly enough, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices if you didn't know / competitor to Intel). Just very odd, very strong stock ever since the Athlon was released. I've held onto this for a few years now, and although its been a hair over doubled its value, I'll hold onto it for a while longer.

As for the rest... I'm waiting it out. =D

I have 3 which have held up well during the latest slump. PXD and PXGIX which are mutual funds and E which is the parent company of AGIP oil company. What is really frightening is that on my latest statement from one of my investment companys, my money market out performed my stocks.

Sometimes the stock market likes it after companies lay people off. The goal is to decrease expenses without decreasing revenues. Unfortunately, in the short term they're all taking charges to realign the company. Hopefully, when those charges are over later this year they'll have stable earnings - which Wall Street likes. Best case is a target of 15-20 within 12 months, worst case will hopefully be a small bounce for a small profit.

But don't take my word for it, there's a reason I was a Finance/Investments major, but now I'm in a different industry.

Purchased Avanex for 68 now its down to 7.75 :(
Down $78,000 as of today. Well, there goes the money for that Testa Rossa I always dreamed of owning. Guess I will be keeping my 308 for a little bit longer. Ohhh, I think we all missed the original question. Herb ask for the best performing stock and the majority of us gave him the worst performing stocks. Sorry Herb, seems like most of us are in the same boat.

Danny, you are right. I just got back from Nortel's User conference in Nashville. Not only are they laying off 10,000 more people but they announced a loss of $19.2Billion (with a "b") in the second quarter. Rob, good luck... hope they've hit bottom!!!

Rob,

Didn't I hear that Nortel is getting ready to layoff 10,000 employees?

I just bought two of the worst performing stocks of the year today, I couldn't stand how cheap they had become and one of the coldest industries around right now... telecom equipment. I bought NT and LU. Down from the 60-80's to 8 and 5 respectively.

I have friends that work at Extreme. I monitored the stock awhile and saw it climb dramatically. It did a sudden drop from approx. $120.00 to approx $92.00. It dropped some more to around $78.00 went up to around $80.00. I bought more on the upswing then it dropped down to around $40.00. I margined some shares and it nose dived to 28.00 or so. I kept faith thinking it was going to improve. It went to $18.00. There was a margin call for the money so I had to sell all to keep from putting more money into the account.

I've come back a little since then on other stocks. I still lost my shirt on Extreme.

A fool and his money.......

I did do very well on others before the crash. That is how I was able to purchase and maintain the 348.

How do you loose 180%, unless you were on 50% margin?

I knew about KK early on, but didn't do anything about it. Dang!

Well, my Verizon (VZ) is doing alright. I've got my eyes on my Worldcom (wcom), hoping the split will draw some more interest. I have lost over $50,000 last year in the market, so I don't look at it very much these days. I made a fortune on Copper Mountain, then it plummeted just like all my tech stocks.

Since our income dictates how much Ferrari we can have, I would like to know what everyone has or is investing in and the best performing stocks. Since my profits are off 75% in the last year, What are your best?
