Najib,
you can also try YOKOHAMA Sport AVS. Great rain tire, but then I guess you do not need that a lot :-)

Scotty, I sent the pics to ya. My E class needs new tires and I'm gonna give Kumho a try, can't be bad if it handles a sports car well.

Najib - FYI - www.tirerack.com delivers tires worldwide. So.. check it out, give Jim a call up at Tire Rack and he'll set you up with a good set of tires that's right for the car, in the max tread for your stock wheel.

Chris

Sorry I got the recommended rear dimensions wrong. They are in fact 255x45x17 again giving a 2% difference (almost). So both seem to be 2% smaller.

Thank you very much for the info. Modman. If you will, please send your 348 pics to
[email protected].

It looks like you and I share the same taste in exotics. I've never driven a Diablo, but it's looks in person almost bring a tear to my eye. Pictures don't do it justice. It's just a masterpiece of an automobile. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the Murci holds a candle to the Diablo in sheer beauty. I was thinking I'd get an SV, or a '98 - '99 coup, which should hopefully be in my budget when the time comes. As far as the 348, I love it's looks, I think it's more edgy than a 355, and I drive the living crap out of it and love every second I'm behind the wheel. I don't think I'll ever sell it. Again, thanks brother!

The tires you are considering are smaller in outside diameter than the owners manual recommendation. The fronts are 2% smaller (24.97" -vs- 25.46") and the rears are 7% smaller (25.19" -vs- 27.04"). The down side of this is that it will increase the error in your speedometer and odometer. The fronts are pretty close but I would look for a larger diameter tire for the back, if not for the speedometer reading, for the estethic look to fill the wheel well.

Tire diameter = (17" wheel)+ 2*(thread width in mm)*(sidewall height in %)

Scotty, give me your email and I'll send you some high qual pics of the side and rear. The wheels are HRE 545's and are 7lbs less overall per entire wheel including the tires over the factory ones. I've hit pot holes and very bumpy roads but these forged wheels stay very true so I find them very impressive. As far as the Diablo goes it's something else, it is much faster than my 348 but not as nimble, on the freeway it cruises with authority esp. after changing the exhaust system (night and day difference). If you can afford to get a Diablo and still be financially stable then yes the car is very well worth it over anything else out there. The only cars that I can think of that is as exotic and unique as the Diablo is the F40, F50 ,Enzo- but not really to my liking, the Mclaren- not much better looking than the Enzo. If I wanted a very fast car then I would buy a real formula one car for the track, why buy a car close to formula one that you cannot use the car to its full potential legally on the streets or take a chance wrecking one on the track. The Diablo is a bargain exotic considering how much it cost compared to other cars higher in price. Regardless of anyones opinions it is my favorite exotic for it's price, a third of the cost of Enzo, half of the F50, and less than the F40. Put a crowd and you'll see the results as it's up there with all the other exotics. This car demands that you DRIVE this car and not let the car drive you, and as far as reliability, no problems at all, just do oil changes. I will be taking the car to Al Burtoni in the near future for it's only full major service which Al requires of it and that's it, just change oil and fluids as he told me. If you can, get at least a 99 and up, 99 is the last year of the Italian made Diablo so it holds the value better than the 6.0. Hope that helps you...

Modman,

I love the wheels on your 348! What brand are they? Also, do you have a rear view pic of your 348 that you can post so I can see how the big sneakers look? Thanks brother!

Also, I've aways been smitten by Diablos, and am thinking of purchasing one in the spring. How do you like your? Does it drive as awesome as it looks?

I have 225x45x17 on the front, and in the back I'm running 275x40x17's. These are mounted on the stock rims. They fit without any problem under the wheel wells, and I have had no rubbing at all.

I don't know for sure, but.....

From what I understand, the numbers on the tires are as follows:

1st number (225) is the width of the tire (tread that touches the road).

2nd number (45) is the sidewall height.

3rd number is (17) the opening size aka the diameter of the rim to fit on.

From the description you gave, the alternate tires should be a little wider and a little lower profile than the standard tires. Since they are wider, your steering may be a bit more difficult at slower speeds, but they should fit ok.

I think they will fit. However, to be sure, since they are shorter and wider, the only way they would 'rub' is if there's not enough clearence when making a sharp turn (wheel turned all the way) and they would rub on the very inside of the wheel-well of the front tires. Have them mount a front tire and turn the wheel all the way back and forth. Check to see that the inside of the tire isn't going to rub. If they will, you can ditch the tires or just know not to make such sharp turns. I think they should fit without any problems though.

I have been looking for tyres for my 348 but cant get the right size here except at very high prices.

Has anyone fitted or know if I can fit 225x45x17 front and 260x40x17 rear on the car? Will the rims and wheel wells take these (slightly larger) sizes to the standard recommended by the owners manual i.e. 215x50x17 and 255x50x17?
