WOW - Paul - I would of been outside laying across the hood of my car as insulation against falling trees.....I have medical insurance! I had a big branch fall on the stone patio - normally where I park my SUV. I'm glad I moved it in front of the garage instead (Ferrari inside)

I can't do the Ferrari thing Sunday - WITHOUT THINKING I promised Mom I would help her.....and NO ONE KNOWS the guilt trip an Eastern European Mother can and would lay on me if I went Ferraring instead (Nika wipes tear from eye)

have fun! (insert sobs and wails here)

Well, so far we survied LILI and ISIDORE. We are 26 feet above sea level, so it would take a CAT 5 with 30 foot surge to get to us. We are how ever two miles form the Pearl River and 15 from the Rigolets. So, we always get strong winds.

I know one thing, when the big one hits, it supposed to go right over our house. Under that circumstance New Orleans would have from 5 to 12 feet of water in it.

I'm lookin at the news right now and they are trying to check all the graves, becasue they are all covered with water down in Terrabonne Parish. About 100 miles south west of us. they showed some coffins floating down the Bayou.

I cut up the tree that caused some stress and Im going to use it in my fireplace next winter, Ha! And its neighbor is getting the axe tomorrow. It is much larger and has a defect 1/3 the way up the trunk which is where the other one snapped off. More fire wood. Ill teach those trees not to fall on my ferrari's house.

in houston, we are constantly under threat of hurriacane or flood. last year, when tropical storm allison hit, i didn't worry. my cars are all garaged and unlikely to be damaged. even with the fear of flooding, that is what i bought isurance for. however, i did take the land rover defender 90 out and drive through very deep water just to survey the local damage. i must say that it was a blast, even though i had water coming in the sides of the truck.

The winter of 92 a nor'easter blew thru here in Connecticut lost my uninsured car i was storing in my friends marina across the street.
After witnessing the road an seawall collapse in front of my house i stopped thinking about the car.

I feel for you, Paul. A year ago I had a tree fall on my boat. It was a huge maple, estimated to be 200-225 years old. It was over 100 feet tall and 20 FEET in circumference (three trees sprouted out of one trunk). It destroyed my boat lift and dock, did some damage to the boat (the canopy on the lift protected the boat from major damage), broke the seawall, and caused general havoc all around. the bright side of the story is that I won't have to rake nearly as many leaves this fall!

Tonight we are to have a wind storm.....my neighbor casually asked if I was worried about my tree falling on the garage where my precious baby is stored. NOW I am nervous.....pacing and watching the tree. Monday they are coming to trim it to a shrub.........I would of never thought about until someone brought it up

I don't worry about anything I can't do anything about either.... It's insured and sitting in my garage about 10 feet above sea level. When that 30 foot surge comes from a category 5 hurricane, I'll be long gone from that location. Even though my house is three stories - brick over concrete block, I don't expect too much left after the 150mph winds.

Cars were covered, house was not had 2" on the first floor the basement was already full, sump pump only runs 1 hr a year did not have flood insur. then but I sure do now. Weird thing in ILL for car insurance, if water enters either the trunk or the passenger compartment during a " flood " the car MUST be totaled. I was still using 2 of the three totaled cars until the flatbed came.

In 96 we had the largest non tropical storm rainfall 18.5 " in 20 hours, had $70000 non insured damage. Lost all 3 cars ( do not have the 308 then ). Believe me the cars even a Ferrari was the last thing on my mine at that time.

Just wondered if any of you guys panic when a major tropical storm comes your way, which seems to be on the regular basis. I would be worried my garage would float away or worse, blow away an toss my ferrari around like a news paper. Do you have these cars in vaults or just cross your fingers? All the way up in my igloo Im feeling the affects of the current storm, just figured a few ferraris would get trashed.
