Have to agree to that - listening to Manu's wav file aroused my interest...but actually having one make the noise behind you when driving is addictive at wahtever revs(althought the higher the better of course !!!) Marvellous expense if you ask me....and the difference is just amazing..

Guys - I have a sensational video of a de-cat + Tubi F355 being filmed from a stock F355 spyder with the hood down - it PERFECTLY illustrates the difference.
What's even more fantastic is that the clip is of us driving past a rather prestigious Ferrari dealer *down the bypass.*

It's about 9.0mb - email me and I'll email it to you.

Might I add that the clip and my company are in no way associated with ANY Ferrari dealer.

Might also add that no video clip does the *SOUND* justice.

I agree, you HAVE to hear it in real-life!

On the F355s, I actually perfer the stock system (more high-pitched, screamer. Just as loud on thorttle imo. Actually, possibly THE finest sounding factory exhaust on any car in history...)

F40s however sound great with Tubi 'LM Pipes' :-)

Best!

Scotty,

Thanks for your post! I have got a 90 348tb. Guess the car has a two muffler system. The sound is not bad when reving high but at lower revs it sounds very quiet (After getting used to that Ferrari engine sound!). Would be really great to hear a sound file from your beast! Will probably install a Tubi this year after convincing myself that it is worth to spend 1900 Euro for some pieces of tubes and better sound!
Want to install a K&N air filter and hope to get around +20hp together with the new exhaust! Know that this is very optimistic but makes it easier for me to spent the money :-)

Jens,

Your 348 is a beautiful specimen! If yours has the two muffler system like mine did, the difference is amazing. The two muffler system makes the car sound like a sewing machine in comparison. Also, it saves a lot of weight and takes a lot of heat out of the engine compartment. It was a wonderful and worthwhile improvement in my opinion. I have a friend who is computer savvy and I will see if I can have him make a recording. Cheers! :-)

I've not heard a tubi before but agree with Doody, that it's difficult to replicate an exhaust note on a sound clip.
try following interesting link;

Scotty,

Thinking about installing a tubi for my 348 for a long while now. Know about the problems with the recording. Would still be nice to get a sound file of a 348 with a tubi on. Perhaps you have got one from your own car. Would really be a big help.

ricky - ya gotta listen to it with your own ears.

a high quality recording of an exhaust note is exceptionally difficult to create.

a tubi is a meaningful investment, and some people end up REGRETTING it. you should have your mechanic call you some day he has a 355 with a tubi in the shop so you can swing by and listen.

my mechanic did this for me. i wasn't blown away. he later took my car out for a mile or two and came back and said "you know what - you don't need a tubi - your exhaust sounds great".

the cars vary. some 355s sound different than others with the stock setup.

i was very interested in a meatier exhaust note until i heard the tubi - and then i was far less interested in a change.

remember, the sound that puts the -eating-grin on your face is the music at 7500 RPM. the exhaust note at idle isn't one you're going to pay all that much attention to at the end of the day.

so my advice would be to see what you can do to get a listen IRL. recordings are interesting, but making an $nK investment based on recordings you find on the Internet might be a risky proposition.

doody!

Hey Ricky,

I tried to upload the file, but it was a little too big. Try this link, it's some pics and several little vids with sound of an F355 with a performance system, not a tubi, but sounds simelar. The one driving away is the best.

BTW, I bolted a tubi on my 348 and it was an amazing improvement. The best bang for the buck by a long shot. It made me love my car even more!
