Almost every state has a law in place that will let the buyer cancel his order and get 100% of their deposit back up until the car has been delivered and paperwork signed. I highly doubt that story was true. Esp since the auto old boys club is very tight, and a simple call to one of the Ford boy's would have corrected the situation if needed.

Good question. I know a guy who knows him. I don't know if the following story is true, but I heard that he sold a Vanquish to a guy who headed up a division of one of the auto suppliers. A week later the guy heard he was being transfered to NYC. He called the salesman in a panic and asked if he could cancel the deal. "Sure," he was told, "but it will cost you $50,000". which he happily paid.

A week later the transfer to NYC fell through. Now he was going to another city that is more car friendly. Again he called the salesperson in a panic and asked, "Can I get my car back?"

"It's going to be tough, but I may be able to do something," the salesperson answered. "It may cost a little more."

"No problem," the anxious buyer answered, "the company will pay since they got me into this mess in the first place. How much?"

"Another Fifty grand," the salesperson replied.

And he got it.

You're probably right, Brett, although their salesperson claims to be the #1 Aston salesperson in the US

Slight correction there Bill, the Jag dealer on 15 mile is the biggest Jag dealer, but not the biggest Aston dealer. Aston is out East I believe.

truly odd since the Jag dealer on Haggerty is bigger and better looking, with more models to test drive.

#1 Jag is because Ford workers get the A-plan deal on 'em.

That's why it's not #1 Aston; no deal.

The Detroit Aston Martin/Jaguar Dealership is the #1 Aston dealer in the country, as well as the #1 Jaguar dealer in the country. Why? Because they sell most of their cars to Ford employees who are relieved that they no longer have to be stuck with a Lincoln, and the rest to auto suppliers.

I have also seen one in the Detroit area. In fact, I saw it twice in the same day. I also had a chat with I-don't-remember-his-name from Ford at the Italian Concours in Gross Pointe recently and he said there are several in the Michigan area. There was no mistaking it. I saw a regular DB7 a few weeks later and some at Jaguar of Troy and they looked considerably more... subtle. Wouldn't take a Vanquish over a 575M, but I'd consider a Vantage as a daily driver.

There is a couple of them running around Detroit. In fact I was in Troy for a meeting a couple of weeks ago and cruised by the Jag/Aston Martin dealer. On that day they happened to have one sitting out front. They sure are cool - and a rare sight. But in the end, make mine Italian :-)

Having owned a Aston V8 Vantage and drove it for 70k miles let me tell you it's one fantastic touring car.It is too heavy to be a track performer but is one gorgeous machine.(mine was a '79-gold-with doubl-0-7 NY plates.)Sold it in '88.
I want it back!

i think the vanquish is a great car, both driving and looks. i can't see the difference between the db7 and the vanquish cost wise. for the $80k + difference, i would to expect to see a look more appeal and body differnece. maybe i speak because i am biased, but i have to agree that a vanquish at speed is a great sight.

today i saw a vanquish today. i was cruising on the nj pike and saw a vanquish today. i couldnt believe how beautiful it is. its not as sexy as a 360 but its still in its own category. and the sound of the engine rivals a ferrari. i couldnt believe it. have any of you saw or heard one?
