thanks for all the feedback, guys. The importer in Holland (who sold the car to German dealer) thought it was a done deal but after 6 mo of my waiting for the part they now say that when DF of Italy heard the car was in US they said no-go.Now the broker in US (Amerispec) is trying another method but is not encouraging.
I have a body guy who assures me he can extend the fibreglass hood and make it like new then repaint and wax the burnt areas. This requires taking off the bumper and taking apart the light assembly.
I looked at a 2001 360 and all F did was extend the hood 11/2 inches over the lo beam globular light.

This is similar to the comment I made to Martin M.D. RE:That Ferrari is backing away from the responsibility of a defect which they created when they produced the car. I agree with Bret, they should repair the car regardless where it is.

Yeah that's true. If you had a euro anything else though the people at the dealership would try to help you, only Ferrari is gay about the whole thing. Like you guys said, they should be repair things like this because it is a recalled part regardless of where the car is. Maybe the German dealership can get the recalled part and then send it to you.

This is probably a tough call for Ferrari. If they fix these (or other) problems on the Euro 360's in America, they're (in a sense) sending a message of support... encouraging people to buy gray market cars. I'm sure this would not enhance their relationship with FNA. Tough call for sure.

I think it is a shame that Ferrari is tarnishing their name by playing games with F owners.
Who cares where the car is. There is a problem that needs to be fixed.
I can see why FNA does not want to pay for it, thats okay, but the factory should at least send the part even at your cost to your Ferrari dealer, you have to pay for the install but they pay for their mis-constructed part.

I wonder if you can force Ferrari of Italy to send you the part. Try to get it through the source that sold you the car. The german dealer may be able to help.

This problem is also found on pre-2000 US cars. Sorry to hear it had to happen on your car, Martin.

Warren,
If you send me your e mail address I'll send you the pics.
I just saw a US 360 and the difference is that the fibreglass hood extends about 2 inches more than mine.

Hi Martin, can you get any pics to show the damage and the surrounding area?

My 360 Euro was delivered to me with black burns from reflected sun off the lo beam globe.Ferrari is well aware of problem and has corrected this in 00 and 01 models.
However FNA refuses to honor the recall and F italia refuses since the car is in the USA.CATCH 22!!
I am told the new headlight assembly cost $5800.
Any ideas?? Is it feasible to extend the overhanging fibreglass?Or should I paint over the burns and take a shot by keeping it out of the sun?
