I saw a new Jag sedan, at the Jag dealer when I was having my wifes car serviced, that had been in a accident and a guy hooked up a electric welder to it and burned out about everything electrical in the car. |

Typical things that a backwards jump connection can/will blow include: the diodes in the alternator, ignition modules, alarm brains, radio, amplifier, any relay which contains a diode, radar detector, electronic speedo... Sniff carefully! |

You may have a oil leak. Since you didn't drive it for 4 months and weren't checking the oil, it sat in one spot and you lost some oil. Also I would say you overheated the Alternator. It may not show now but it took a lot of life out of it I'm sure. Also check the wiring to the Alt.. |

You've probably cooked something. I would check all the wires for melted insulation and check your fuse box. |

Yesterday I think Ive made a big mistake! Hope not. Ive tried to sell my 328 for a while and since last May Ive left it in car showroom. But with no result. So, I decided to pick it up because it was stopped for more than 4 months. I tried to start the car and there was no power from battery. The guy had some cables and I tried to start the car with battery power from a Boxter that was there. The problem was that my battery didnt had script in it the plus and minus signals (fiamm with 8 months old). But I was convinced that I knew what was the positive and negative side. But i was wrong. I tried to start the car for about 4 times and almost burned the cables. Then a mechanic arrived with new cables and said we were doing the opposite way. I tried to start and it did so for my enjoyement. I went home but during trip I felt some strange electric smell. As something wasnt right. Like that smell when there electric short-cuts. But the car drove fine and all systems seemed OK. Today I started the car again and the smell is still there. It seems to come from the distributers. So, Im afraid to get out with the car. Do you think Ive ruined the electrical system with my stupid mistake? Also found that oil level was way lower than minimum level. Ive added oil today. Have I damaged my engine? What are the symptoms? Thanks, Andr
