My mother, (God bless her) backed into my Mondial few months ago. I got out saw everything o.k laughed it off with her an that was it. Might have been crying if it was a 308 with Euro look! |

If you make the brackets and eliminate the shock absorbers the Ins. Co will still say it has been altered. |

I'm with Bob and Bruno. I didn't want to change anything permanently, so I didn't want to drill into the shocks. I was thinking of making some brackets out of aluminum so that it looks better and is lighter. As for a slight bump, I can't remember the last time I bumped into anything in the 308 (hope I'm not jinxing myself). |

I will be making a set this winter.I will put them on .I want to keep the original stuff unchanged. Dirk does make a good point. Is the look worth the risk?A simple 5mph bump goes from no biggie to oh SH**. |

It isn't a hard job at all. If you just take it apart then there are a number of ways to do it, all pretty simple and inexpensive. But, with the bumper tucked in a little if you hit anything bigger than a shopping cart you will have some really expensive damaged sheet metal. If the insurance company finds out you have modified the bumper then they can probably point to a clause in your policy that gets them out of paying. Most policies have limitations for anything you have done to increase the risk of damage or the cost of repair. Most of us are so overprotective we can't even imagine our car being damaged, but it does happen. I made the brackets, mounted them and then took them off. I just don't know anyone I trust to do the repair if some idiot backs into me. Again. Dirk |

I made a set for the front on my 308, just matched tube sizes with the shock added the mount plate not a hard job. I did not want to ruin the original parts. |

Henry, There has been discussion on that subject here on F.C.. What the guys are doing is drilling a small hole in the shock absorbers, releasing the gas and pushing the bumpers in. |

Has anyone made any custom brackets for their 308 to "suck" the bumpers in so they don't stick out as much? I'm wondering if these exist, and if not, is there much of a desire for such an animal. |
