Ernesto, with you, I think on balance I prefer stock...with the excpetion of the headlamps.

Jason, looks like the swap out red for black, err sorry in my case Yellow for black headlamps would be my solution. Dont think I'll ever be ordering a brand new F car (couldn't stomach the immediate losses) to get the luxury of specifying custom black lamp assemblies

BTW, looks in those pics like the assemblies are impreg'd the colour rather than paint, cos the 'rear' is also red. Maybe they did this after experiencing probs in eraly models, with surface paint bubbling...heat issues as suggested?

Red sent me these pictures in my email. These are of the stock headlight out of the car. This will work Dave. Just bolt a pair of black ones in and you are ready to go, no worries. Also just a thought is if you bought a new one you may be able to order the car that way. I mean they will do everything else custom. Think about owning a documented one-off. Just a thought.

Agree with Ernesto, but consider the thought that the 288 was the ultimate "rice" job on an existing car (308)...

I have yet to understand people's fascination with taking a stock Ferrari, which had countless hours of track and windtunnel time perfecting the aerodynamics, and add these ugly wings, scoops, spoilers and other crap to mess it all up! The Hamann and Imola kits are a perfect example, and probably do more harm than good aerodynamically. Next thing you know we'll see some guy come up with gullwing doors for the 360, so that they can attact even more attention!

Of course, how it looks is subjective. I personally think they both look ugly... I'll keep the standard 360 front, thank you very much, which looks very much like the McLaren F1 front. The work with the headlights looks interesting though!

I think the stock 360 front end looks more 'ricer' than the one I posted IMHO. If the front of it only looked like a McLaren F1 it would be perfect.. and look much better than the McLaren itself imho.

I too think that the 550 headlights are better looking. When you talk about the headlight lens Red, you mean the whole headlight assembly as one unit? That is really not a bad price. I figured that they would be higher. Also you could sell your take out ones for somewhere in the $1500 range then. Just a thought. I hope this helps you Dave.

New lens is $2778- from FNA, and the lens is not easily removed to paint. I have looked at one off a car before, and it is glued down to the plastic.
As well, Ferrari had a problem in 99 with the first few 360's having the paint "flake off" from the heat generated by the HID lamp

I was looking at a pic of 550 and the area under the glass is the body color, but the bezel that holds the lights is black. that looks good. I don't like the 575/360 all body color either.

Exactly Red,
That way it is painted and you don't have to worry about the job the shop does or if it is going to leak. That would be what I would do.

I have to disagree. That has 'ricer' written all over it. I could go so far as to guess specifics about the owner.... Whether I am wrong or right, it still says something about the car.

Racer I agree, that does look better but I would still want the headlamp treatment, IMO it looks awful as stock

That is the Imola body kit (I think that is the spelling). Although I give them credit for trying, I think it looks like a 360 crossed with (INSERT GAUDY IMPORT CAR HERE) Just my opinion though. I think that the Hamman kit looks good though, minus the wing, so I may not speak for everyone.

Thank you for your compliments guys. I don't know how the headlight setup looks in the 360 but if you are worried about sealing problems, then buy a 360, then buy a set of headlights out of a black 360, and change them. Problem solved. You have the black headlights and don't have to worry about sealing. Just a thought.

For some reason I like that last one Jason, it just looks nice, subtle in its being unique, but not gwaky like the tuners often change cars.

Mr. Penhale is onto something. A friend of the board (Tako) has an Azzuro Cali. 360 spyder. On that, he's put a very very mild 'bluish' tint on the glass - fully removable - and while you can't necessarily discern what's different, it does change the look of the car in a positive manner (IMO, of course).

Perhaps he can offer a bit more information (putting you on the spot, T! ;) ).

I think it works very well on that 575M image, jury out on 360, it would probably look very nice in reality rather than that particular picture. I think in reality the headlamp area wouldnt look as black as that due to light on the lens.

Of course theres another option to try on a real car, tint the lenses themselves, this could be done temporarillyto see what it looks like, not sure what one would use but I'm sure some here will have ideas.

My view is still that the area under the lens cover doesnt look right in the body colour.

F cars really are a source of annoyance in styling for me, there is always one or two elements that look wrong on otherwise unbelievably great styled cars, e.g IMO.

348 - the rear grille (I think the SS rear looks even worse)
355 - for me the 'paired' side intakes, I prefer the cutter sides like the 348/TR
360 - the lights as this thread
TR - acquired taste, too squared off and hence very dated for mine
Enzo - awesome performance but in styling..ugh
Daytona - sorry but never did it for me at all, like an overblown datsun

I think cars that are exceptions and in my view this is why they are and always will be very loved are:

308 - the lines are just so RIGHT (the intakes seem to work well)
328 - ditto the above
288 GTO - nothing needs to be said here
250 GTO - Ditto
512BB/512BBi - Timeless
365 - Ditto
575M
F40 - although fairly squared off it carries it off well (interior is very dated but thats another subject I guess)
F50 - Don't wrap it I'll take it as it is please

While your image editing skills are awesome, I'm afraid that the charcoal really doesn't do it for the red... it looks, err, unique? ;)

But Martin that worked for Porsche for like 40 years, maybe it's Ferrari's turn. This has potential to be a classy thread, I can hear William now saying there's no hope for the 360 no matter what you do, and Ernesto going back at him about cheese graters. I'll admit that I get a kick out of the debates about styling.

I did the black like you wanted but I thought that it was too dark compared to the red so I did more of what would be a charcol color. I think this would be your best bet.

I like just about all aspects of the 360 (particularly the spider) and see it as being my long term target next car.

However, one aspect I don't like, to me it looks totally cheap and wrong, is the fact that the headlamp nacelle area under the plexiglass(?) is painted the body colour. I'm sure it would look much better satin black.

Not sure in reality how achievable this would be because I remember a recent thread here discussing moisture ingress, how to prevent it and how difficult it is to remove once its there.

Any chance you could work your magic on a 360 image Jason?
